In this era of interminably long lines; irate citizens; mayhem; dismay; pandemonium; deafening din and clamour; this good samaritan shows the rest of us how it's done and embodies the humanitarian spirit........
A typically balmy; desultory and particularly fateful Sunday morning only succeeded in adding a few more creases to the already furrowed brow of Surya Prakash a life long resident of Itaunja (Uttar Pradesh's) Madhopur Village as he had failed to lay his hands on any cash whatsoever despite making innumerable trips to the three nationalised bank branches dotting the landscape in and around his modest village dwelling.......
Prakash had almost reached the end of the tether and was despairing beyond all reasonable belief as his beloved daughter's impending nuptials were just about a week or so away and he was literally clutching at the proverbial straws as the much desired crisp and fragrant currency notes were eluding his grasp every single time.......
Help or succour almost always reaches you when you need it the most and Surya Prakash's immediate neighbour 48 year old Parameshwar Deen who was also in desperate need of the much sought after legal tender put his needs on the back burner and gallantly handed over the two newly issued currency notes of Rs. 2;000/- each that he had laid his hands upon after spending five excruciatingly long and haranguing hours waiting for his promised share of the spoils........
Modestly and unassumingly brushing aside his emulatory gesture as "one of those things" Deen coyly quips that he rushed to help his neighbour of almost fourscore years standing on being apprised of his seemingly desperate predicament by his better half who had been noticing Prakash's growing sens of despair and disenchantment with discerning concern.......
In this time of uncertainty and strife; the unheralded and seemingly anonymous Parameshwar Deen stands out as a living embodiment of the fast declining or then almost extinct humanitarian spirit and concern for a fellow human being.......
More power to his elbow and may other Indians follow in his noteworthy wake and footsteps........
