The largely forgotten and obscure Vivek Oberoi might neither be the darling of the paparazzi and Hindi Film Industry bigwigs; but he has certainly got denizens of the marginalised and downtrodden sections of Indian society stoutly rooting for him.......
One may do well to recall the irrefutable and undeniable fact that Vivek's association with philanthropic and humanitarian causes began almost a decade and half or so ago when the younger Oberoi stepped up to the plate and did more than his bit to rehabilitate and provide succour to the thousands of victims of the tsunami that created havoc and mayhem in their ubiquitous life and times........
Mr. Oberoi has gallantly gone on to adopt villages in Tamil Nadu; Andhra Pradesh and last but not the least contributed his considerable mite to the Modi government's much touted "Van Dhan Jan Dhan initiative" that heralds the cause of and provides a new lease of life to handicrafts; bio fuels and such other articles; goods that are produced solely and wholely using natural ingredients garnered from Indian forests.......
In addition to the afore mentioned social and community initiatives; the Oberoi scion is also one of the global spokespersons of the United Nations (World Health Organisations) "Worldwide Tobacco Free Initiative" which aims at eradicating the menace of tobacco abuse within the next two decades or so.......
In his latest good samaritan avatar the humble and unassuming gent with the proverbial "golden heart" has more than willingly acceded to contribute his invaluable time and might to a social initiative expressly aimed at providing a "dream house" to more than 15,000 families at a jaw dropping and rock bottom price of Rs. 8 lakh or so per two bedroom; hall kitchen unit that will be constructed using locally procured and sourced materials.......
Taking to his twitter handle in an effort to create awareness and promote the same an euphoric and exultant younger Oberoi quipped "It is indeed true that I have consented to become the face of a community housing initiative that will be providing two bedroom dwellings to a little more than 15,000 families in Thane district's Shahpur area at an utterly affordable and pocket friendly cost"........
"Construction is on in full swing and we hope to hand over the keys of all 15,000 odd homes constructed/raised under this one of it's kind initiative before the onset of the monsoons in late May/early June 2017".......
Way to go Mr. Oberoi may your ranks swell by the thousands......
