Young Indian women certainly seem to be damned if they do and pay with their budding or then fledgling lives if they don't.......
A fateful and deadly late Monday evening witnessed the National Crime Records Bureau statistics pertaining to the number of young women callously; senselessly and brutally murdered while bravely resisting attempted rapes go up by one as a young and innocent 17 year old teenager ended up paying the ultimate price in her attempts to ward off her 22 year old cousins lecherous attempts at sexually assaulting her within the precincts of her rented accommodation in Greater Noida's Kulesra Village........
According to the case's investigating officer this ghastly incident occurred at around 8 pm or so on the afore mentioned late evening when the 17 year old valiant teenager was home alone and going about performing her daily routine without a care in the world.........
Trouble with a capital "T" or then should I say impending death; danger and mayhem with a capital "D" walked in unannounced in the form of the accused 22 year old Anil a long term resident of the national capital's Mandawali area who had made a furtive attempt at molesting the very same teenager some six or so months ago and was strictly dissuaded from frequenting their residence ever since.........
Anil's deathly game was up when the deceased's mother who toils in a local garment factory (the girl's father passed away five years or so ago after a prolonged illness) wandered into her humble abode after winding up her professional duties for the day.......
She was taken by utter surprise and consternation when she saw her less than favourite nephew frequenting her residence and alarmed as well as suspicious when she saw the deep and bloody gouges and scratch marks spread over his face and neck........
Alerted and dismayed by his elusive and convoluted replies pertaining to the whereabouts of her beloved and only daughter (offspring) the recently deceased teenager's mother stepped out of the main door surreptitiously locking the same behind her and proceeded to summon seven or eight of her male neighbours who pounced upon the youth and started roughing him up.........
Realising that his goose was cooked; the accused confessed to having savagely murdered his cousin by throttling her with her very own stole when she more than capably warded off his ponderous advances and amateurish attempts to force himself upon her; he also admitted that he had dumped her lifeless and senseless body in an adjacent empty plot so that the needle of suspicion did not point towards him........
A few conscientious and concerned neighbours immediately made a beeline towards the nearby police station and returned with a sub inspector and three constables who proceeded to take the accused into their custody without any further ado........
The accused was then produced before a judicial magistrate at around 11 pm or so (at his residence) and remanded to 14 days judicial custody by the legal luminary........
Cases under sections 376 (rape) and 302 (murder) have since been registered against the accused and he is staring at the bleak and desolate prospects of spending the next twenty years or so of his life behind bars at the very least.........
Like I remarked at the very beginning; young woman indeed seem to be damned any which way you look at the alarming at sinister scene pertaining to the alarmingly increasing or burgeoning number of rapes and attempted rapes reported in/from various states;cities and villages dotting the length and breadth of our beloved and venerated motherland..........
