In yet another body blow to it's avowed campaign of cleaning up the murky and tarnished Indian political scenario, a sitting Bharatiya Janata Party Member of Parliament was allegedly caught accepting cash on camera.......
Virender Kashyap, the sitting BJP MP from the Shimla (reserved) parliamentary seat in Himachal Pradesh was on Thursday booked by the Himachal Pradesh police personnel on the charges of accepting cash on camera from a constituent in lieu of an official favour.......
A case has been booked against Kashyap under section 9 of the Prevention of Corruption Act after the authenticity of the Compact Disc was established beyond all reasonable doubt by the central forensics science laboratory in Chandigarh........
The Himachal Pradesh High Court had issued notices to Kashyap in November last on a petition pertaining to the quashing of a police inquiry report giving a clean chit to him even though a CD showing him accepting wads of cash on camera was doing the rounds of various news channels......
Petitioner Devashish Bhattacharya in his plea before the honourable High Court had alluded to the fact/alleged that the state government enquiry carried out by the then incumbent BJP state government headed by Prem Kumar Dhumal was anything but free and fair and that the same was only instituted with the sole intention of hushing up the case against the sitting MP at the earliest.......
Bhattacharya had then sough a fresh probe and thorough as well as time bound reinvestigation of the case and the state police had duly reinvestigated the case at the behest of the High Court........
According to official sources, the said Video Compact Disc had been doing the rounds since January 2010 and the same clearly showed the sitting BJP MP accepting wads of cash from private parties in lieu of helping the concerned parties get the requisite/required official sanction to set up a higher educational institution within the hill state........
As mentioned earlier a BJP government headed by Prem Kumar Dhumal was in power in the hill state at the time and Kashyap had promised the concerned parties the required permissions were nothing more than a mere formality considering his personal equation with the then chief minister..........
Will Modi finally put his money where his mouth his and sack the tainted MP forthwith or then prefer to look the other way as he has done in the case of the tainted Yeddyurappa, infamous Bellary (Reddy) brothers and last but not the least one Babubhai Bokadia or some such who merrily continues being a cabinet minister in the Modi government despite being indicted for his role in various scams by the Gujarat courts........
