AND THE ATROCITIES CONTINUE UNABATED.......

Atrocities against hapless and seemingly defenceless women certainly seem to be on the upswing in Akhilesh Yadav's Uttar Pradesh and as usual the authorities seem hell bent upon sweeping this contentious and controversial issue under the carpet........
In a bizarre coincidence (if on can call it that in the first place); a Dalit woman hailing from an anonymous village in the state's notorious Shahjahanpur district was subjected to the same abject humiliation and deprivation that five other women from the same background experienced exactly twelve months ago.......
One may do well to recall the sordid fact that five Dalit woman were stripped naked; mercilessly assaulted and then paraded naked through the length and breadth of the afore mentioned district's Hareva village a year back and yet another Dalit woman was subjected to the very same treatment as a consequence or corollary of a particularly acrimonious long standing land dispute amongst two disparate groups belonging to Khairatia village......
According to sources who prefer remaining anonymous the eponymous episode unfolded in the late hours of Monday night/early Tuesday morning when an irate and infuriated group of men belonging to one of the two constantly sparring and squabbling groups forcefully barged into the nondescript dwelling of the afore mentioned hapless and defenceless woman who was home alone at the fateful time in the absence of her husband and other family members who had gone to an adjoining village for a family function........
Exploiting the golden opportunity accorded to them on the proverbial platter; the demonic group of men proceeded to pull out the screaming; shouting and pleading woman out of her decadent dwelling by her hair; divested her of all her vestments; bound her hands so that she could not cover or protect the vital parts or segments of her anatomy and compounded their heinousness by parading her through the entire village while constantly barraging her with incessant blows with sticks and the likes that they had handily equipped themselves with........
This harrowing and inhuman/dastardly ordeal only ended when the grievously injured woman collapsed or then swooned into unconsciousness following which she was bundled up by two of her tormentors and disdainfully dumped in the vicinity of the village's only water source (pond) in full view of her fellow villagers who preferred to don the role of abject spectators and bystanders rather than heroes and good samaritans.......
Partially recovering from her injuries after four to five hours after falling unconscious; the somewhat disoriented and dishevelled woman somehow managed to wend her way back to her home and hearth where harried fellow family members who had launched a search for her attended to her wounds to the best of their abilities and then made their way to the local police station at around 11:30 am or so on the fateful Tuesday morning.........
As has become their preferred ritual the local police sleuths steadfastly refused to register a case against the men whom the woman named and shamed in their supposedly "august" presence while doling out the excuse that she was registering a complaint against the men she had named and shamed as a result of the long standing dispute between the two families and that her statements could not be taken at face value as none of her fellow villagers backed up the version of events as narrated by her and her fellow family members.........
This friends; fellows; countrymen and women is a stark and telling portrayal of the law and order situation in India's most populous and medieval state where the victim is penalised;ostracised; victimised and brutalised while the perpetrators rule the roost thanks to the system that not only colludes with them but also condones their lawlessness and barbarity every single time......
