RAHUL GANDHI AND HIS UNFULFILLED PROMISES........

Our politicians who claim to represent the hopes and aspirations of the common man and espouse causes dear to his heart are surely a "blessed" lot; they go down to ground zero, express sympathies and wipe the tears of bereaved families as long as the media glare is focussed on them and then promptly forget the suffering families et al once the media glare shifts to a different issue/place........
Here is something to chew/mull over, the Congress Vice President (Shehzaada) Shri Rahul Gandhi condescended on a remote and isolated Uttar Pradesh Village in 2009 and broke bread (chatni, onions and rotis) with the long suffering family of a farmer Bhagwat Prajapati who had passed away due to starvation and unsatisfied hunger pangs in the year of the lord 2005........
Almost five (5) years on, little if anything has changed as far as the Prajapati family is concerned, they did certainly enjoy their 15 seconds of fame when Rahul Gandhi was in their midst, but things have taken a steady downward spiral since than and seem to be in a free fall now.......
The meagre land holding (a little over one acre) that Prajapati had mortgaged to the local sahukar (money lender) has since been acquired by him as the family was simply not in a position to repay the amount acquired against the land and his youngest son Rakesh had to withdraw his name from the local school as the debt ridden family could not manage to put up his school fees...........
Prajapati's widow and three sons (Rakesh included) are currently employed as farm labourers as well as stone crushers so that they afford two square meals a day........
Rakesh, 19, is a bitter and worldly wise young man now and exhorts all first time voters to be wary of the tall and lofty sounding promises made by scions of political dynasties as these amount to precious little in the long run and only vote for those candidates/parties who have their best interests at heart.........
"I for one have made up my mind about voting for Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party on April 30", Rakesh candidly admits and goes on to say that he likes whatever little he has seen of Kejriwal on one of the three television screens that his village Rehri can boast off........
"Electricity is a precious or then should I say somewhat endangered commodity in our village and we consider ourselves blessed if we have electricity for four to five hours everyday, but Kejriwal is espousing the cause of people like me and should certainly be given a fair opportunity to prove his mettle", he says........
On queried about whether or not he would ever vote for Rahul Gandhi and the Congress his quixotic reply is "how can I ever vote for a person who promised us the sun, moon and stars; if not the entire solar system and delivered a pithy ration card instead"........
"Is it possible to feed a family of eleven (Uncle and cousins included) on one ration card, it would have been far better if Rahul Gandhi had helped my family members secure class IV government jobs instead", Rakesh signs off.........
And so the Rahul bandwagon rolls on replete with numerous tales of unfulfilled promises and visits to villages and innocent village folk who took him at face value only to learn that a GANDHI can never ever be trusted.........
