Will the powers that be within the country realise the crying need for a Witness Protection Act/Whistle blowers protection act post haste and initiate the necessary measures to legislate the same........
In the umpteenth murderous incident involving a indomitable and irrepressible Right To Information crusader and his armed and fortified antagonists; a Nohta Town (Damoh District; Madhya Pradesh) based RTI activist was allegedly shot at point blank range by the two state government teachers who were at the receiving end of his ire and zealousness........
According to the case's investigating officer; the two accused Praveen and Pradeep Jain let loose a volley of shots from their country made pistols aimed at the relentless and doughty RTI activist Jitendra Bhatt at around 6:30 pm or so on the fateful Monday evening as he had filed cases against them to the effect that they had forged their mark sheets and other educational qualification related documents in order to obtain or procure the much sought after jobs of primary teachers in state government run schools.......
Fearing the worst and realising that their goose was well and truly cooked; the two accused were waiting for an opportunity to get their own back at their perceived tormentor and sworn enemy and they almost succeeded in snuffing out the life of the brave heart in this dastardly and reprehensible manner..........
According to the doctors treating Bhatt at a state government run super speciality hospital his condition remains to be critical as he suffered at least four or more bullet wounds in his lower abdominal and spinal areas; though the doctors successfully managed to extricate the five bullets embedded in his body after a four hour long surgery; the nest 48-72 hours are slated to be crucial in Bhatt's chances of making a speedy and near miraculous recovery........
In the meanwhile; the police sleuths attached to the police station under whose jurisdiction this crime most foul was committed have booked attempt to murder cases under section 307 of the Indian Penal Code against the two accused and launched a massive manhunt in order to nab the elusive fugitives at the earliest........
Which brings us back to the moot question about the urgent enactment of a comprehensive and fool proof Whistle Blowers/Witnesses Protection Act,,,,,,,,,
