Don't believe me then kindly sample this for thought; Raju Pandit a long term resident of the Sadadfaliya area of Vansad Town in Gujarat's Vansari district casually walked into the precincts of the area's police thana and made the startling declaration about surrendering before the cops as he had torched his lawfully wedded wife on that fateful Saturday afternoon before walking into the said police station and confessing to his crime.......
Neighbours and fellow residents of the area who were alerted by the victim's piteous cries for help doused the seeming inferno that engulfed her and rushed her to an adjoining government hospital where her condition is slated to be highly critical as she had already suffered 70% burns or so before being rushed to the hospital..........
Alert and awake police personnel who detained Raju Pandit even before an official case was booked against him then subjected him to sustained and relentless questioning and under the incessant pressure of the same the alleged perpetrator Raju Pandit broke down and confessed through a written statement that would certainly make one's blood curdle.......
According to his written statement or confession, Raju firstly doused his lawfully wedded wife Sunita with at least 2 litres of kerosene and then set her aflame with the aid of a cigarette lighter before locking the main door from outside and making his way to the police station before the disbelieving cops..........
Deep rooted and constant suspicion about his wife's alleged or suspected affair with a man residing in the neighbouring house was attributed as the reason behind Raju's inexplicable murderous measure or antic; Raju also said that this alleged or supposed affair was the primary reason behind the heated quarrels that used to erupt between the couple on almost daily basis and matters came top ahead on the fateful Saturday afternoon when Raju set his wife aflame in an unbridled fit of rage.........
Forensics teams have reached the spot where Raju Pandit set his wife aflame and launched their detailed investigations into the hedonistic episode while the investigating officer and his team have begun the painstaking process of recording the statements of eyewitnesses, neighbours and residents of the area in order to build a water tight case against the accused..........
