A 7 year old class II student and long term resident of Agra city's Nai Ki Mandi area was brutally savaged by her mother's cousin in the late hours of Monday night/early Tuesday morning and her tormentor also proceeded to bite off his victim's tongue so that she would be unable to narrate her tale of woe and suffering to her family members.........
In what has come as some amount of solace for the grieving and inconsolable family; the accused,35 year old Manoj alias Sindhi, along term resident of Agra's Madhu Nagar area was apprehended by the cops from a relative's house late on Tuesday evening...........
Narrating the sequence of events in a written statement before the investigating officer; the victim's father has alluded to the fact that the main accused in the case was his wife's cousin and enjoyed a congenial relationship with his cousin's five offspring............
As per his usual habit; the main accused had sauntered into the victim's humble abode late on the fateful Monday night in a seemingly inebriated condition and loudly demanded a hot and delectable meal from his cousin (victim's mother)..........
Continuing with his version of events; the victim's father said that Sindhi switched on the television set in the living room at a considerably high pitch/volume and said that he would spend some time watching the same before retiring for the night on the diwan that he was occupying.........
He then made his way into the adjoining room where his female cousin was slumbering along with her husband and five children; made of with her seven year old niece; latched the bedroom door from outside and then proceeded to sexually exploit and maul his niece before biting off her tongue in a seemingly inhuman and utterly despicable manner in order to ensure her silence.........
Rudely woken up by their daughter's plaintive wails and heart rending cries; the victim's family somehow managed to break the latch that was confining them and made their way to the living room only to be confronted with the pitiful sight of a copiously bleeding daughter who was slipping in and out of unconsciousness.........
They then proceeded to rush her to the nearby S.N. Medical College where a team of doctors took her under their wing; all possible and required medical assistance is being rendered to the young girl and her condition is slated to be highly critical at the moment........
As per laid down procedures; the doctors summoned high ranking officers from the adjoining Lohamandi police station who duly recorded the victim's parents statement and then proceeded to book cases under sections 376 (rape), 511 (attempt to rape), and sections 326 (slashing body parts) of the Indian Penal Code as well as the relevant and applicable sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against the accused...........
Two police teams then spread out and raided 12 possible hideouts of the victim in a bid to apprehend him and also interrogated several relatives, friends and well wishers of the accused in a bid to nab him; one police team got lucky and managed to extract the information from a relative about the accused hiding at a friend's abode in Sikandara........
The said police team then proceeded to establish contact with the assailant's friend on his mobile and requested him to subdue him until the reached the spot; paying heed to their implorings; the rapist's friend mixed sleeping pills in his food and put him under till the police reached the spot and made off with him late on Tuesday evening...........
Horrified and consternated by their son's doings/deeds; the accused's immediate family have steadfastly and resolutely refused to plead/implead his case and let the due process of law run it's course.........
