NIHALANI AND COMPANY DO IT YET AGAIN.......

Pahlaj Nihalani and his cohorts within the ranks of the Central Board of Film Certification steadfastly refuse to mend their "grandmotherly" style of functioning despite being publicly admonished by the courts and taken to task by the rank and file of the Hindi Film Industry.........
Yet another film "Missing On A Weekend " seems to have fallen foul with the members of the above mentioned board who have become a law unto themselves withe their eccentric and arbitrary ways and means of certifying films and demanding cuts fro the most frivolous and trivial reasons.......
Yes; you did indeed hear or rather read it right; after demanding a jaw dropping 92 cuts in the Abhishek Chaubey helmed "Udta Punjab" Messrs Nihalani and company are now demanding that up and coming director Abhishek Jawarkar voluntarily make 50 cuts in the on screen narration of his spine chilling crime thriller "missing On A weekend"........
This flick which marks the debut of legendary crooner Hariharan's son Karan within the annals of the Hindi Film Industry narrates the blood curdling events that unfold on a beach in Goa when a group of teenagers who are cavorting around the beach as if there is no tomorrow are mysteriously bumped off one by one by a sinister killer until all but one is left surviving and unconscious so that the needle of suspicion points towards him........
Now here is a sample of some of the proposed cuts suggested or then should I say dictatorially mandated by the CBFC; obliterating or removing all references to Goa from the length and breadth of the two odd hour long flick; Omission of the song that goes "trip; trip; trip; snip; snip; snip" and so on and so forth........
Slated to be released worldwide on July 1; 2016 Jawarekar's maiden directorial venture that also features veteran actor Pawan Malhotra in a stellar role has thus been unduly delayed as a result of the CBFC's insane objections and Jawarekar noe plans to follow in ANurag Kashyap's hallowed footsteps by firstly taking his "baby" to the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) followed by the courts if necessary........
Jawarekar who desperately wanted to release his labour on love on the slated date has more or less reconciled himself to an inordinate delay and vows to relentlessly fight on till he makes Messrs Nihalani and Co. cower at his feet and issue an unconditional apology admitting their mistake and certifying his project without a single cut.........
Here's wishing Jawarekar and his co-collaborators all success in this battle of right versus wrong and hoping that they succeed in putting an end to this exorcist who goes by the name of Pahlaj Nihalani for eternity........
