Justice delayed is justice denied; trust our cantakerous; wearisome and overburdened system to not only justify this dictum but also provide it with a haloed sanctity of it's very own.......
This surely takes not only the cake but the entire bakery in my humble opinion; Tushar Kantilal Parmar a tall and strapping 31 year old resident of Gujarat's Ahmedabad city will now be tried as a juvenile as the powers that be (read the police as well as courts) failed to take cognisance of a supposedly heinous crime committed by him and seven others fourteen years back and came to their senses after this long and salubrious slumber only now.........
Amraiwadi police personnel had registered a FIR against Tushar and seven others in a case of rioting and attempt to murder for creating a fracas and repeatedly stabbing a fellow youth on October 2;2001 following a minor accident and subsequent flare up between the participants or then parties involved......
Following their preliminary investigations; the cops filed a charge sheet involving all the eight accused persons before a metropolitan court in January 2002; but as has become the norm; the said charge sheet laid buried in the innermost recesses of the concerned court's files and was retrieved only a week or so ago......... After being unearthed; the now infamous charge sheet was forwarded to a sessions court that took due cognisance of the same; a learned judge of the very same court stumbled upon the fact that Tushar was just 17 years of age at the time of committing the crime and hence could not be tried as an adult as the existing laws pertaining to juveniles mandate the same.........
Hence; Tushar's case was isolated from the rest and duly sent to the concerned juvenile justice board for trial and punishment/conviction.........
A 31 year old juvenile; whatever next.........
