Currently on his way back after the just concluded India-Australia test series; woefully out of form batsman Cheteshwar Pujara will be turning out for his state (Ranji trophy) team as soon as he sets foot on terra firma.......
Confirming the development; Saurashtra Coach Sitanshu Kotak said that Pujara had telephonically confirmed his availability for his team';s next Ranji Trophy venture against Vidarbha from January 13 onwards at Nagpur..........
As India's test tour ends on Saturday; January 10; we expect Pujara to join the team in time for the team's next fixture in Nagpur and expect him to contribute significantly to overhauling the team's plummeting fortunes; Kotak signed off........
For the record; Pujara carried his woeful form from the India-England test series into the test series down under and could only amass a pithy 201 runs from 6 innings in three test matches with a top score of 73 before being replaced by Suresh Raina for the just concluded Sydney test match.........
Saurashtra have thus far been having their worst Ranji Trophy season in recent times and are currently languishing at the bottom of Group B; what with the team just managing to garner a laughable 3 points from the five games in which they have turned up in this season........
Only Sheldon Jackson (662 runs from 5 games) who also happens to be the team's top scorer and Ankit Vasavada (462 runs from 5 games) have managed to redeem themselves thus far while all the other batsmen have been struggling to put bat to ball; as for the team's bowling unit; the less said the better.........
With the impending/imminent threat of being relegated to Group C staring them in the face; the team's management is literally clutching at straws while hoping and praying that Pujara's infusion or then inclusion in the side will prove to be the turning point and galvanise the team into turning around their fortunes and making a renewed bid to qualify for the knock out stages of India's premier domestic tournament........
Here's hoping that the beleaguered Saurashtra team management's prayers do indeed bear the desired fruit and guarantee the team the much desired spot in the knock out stages.........
