Well; well well; the largely comatose International Cricket Council (ICC) seems to have woken from it's self imposed slumber at long last and cracked the proverbial whip against the "greedy and grubby" West Indian cricketers who called off a scheduled tour to India midway following a wage dispute with their board.........
According to a press release put on on it's website late on Sunday evening; "in an exceedingly rare show of unison and solidarity all member boards opined that they find such deplorable and condemnable player actions or behaviours to be extremely damaging, demeaning, disruptive and simply unacceptable"............
Furthermore; "all players who try emulating the example set by a few West Indian players or then replicate such condemnable actions will not only run the risk of breaching or contravening the rules and regulations laid down by their respective governing boards and being prosecuted under the terms and conditions of the same; but also put in serious jeopardy or doubt their current and future contractual obligations with both domestic franchises/clubs or then similar clubs and franchises that have signed them up in other member nations"............
Terming the period following from the West Indian team's withdrawal from it's Indian tour as "one of the darkest hours in all cricketing history"; the release further went onto allude that all concerned member boards as well as the ICC are deeply committed to rooting out such unwelcome and unwarranted incidents from the very root and will do whatever it takes to ensure that the fair and unblemished name of the glorious game is never again brought into similar disrepute by the actions of a few usurpious individuals who put themselves first............
West Indian Cricket Board chief Dave Cameron who was also a part and parcel of the ICC deliberations held out the solemn promise that no future West Indian team will ever be accorded both the liberty as well as opportunity of pulling out midway through a tour for any reason whatsoever and also said that the West Indian Board would not hesitate to terminate such players contracts with immediate effect; thereby rendering them persona non grata in the eyes of the rest of the cricketing world and hitting them where it hurts the most..........
Messrs Chris Gayle; Kieron Pollard; Dwayne Bravo; Dwayne Smith; Darren Sammy and the rest; do kindly pay heed and watch your step as the ICC certainly means business this time around and crossing it will only mean imperilling your futures..........
