ZAHEER KHAN PULLS UP ONCE AGAIN.........

Somewhat resurgent and quietly resilient Delhi Daredevils IPL franchise encountered it's latest body blow as veteran Indian medium pacer Zaheer Khan abruptly pulled up during the course of a training session prior to the commencement of his side's match with the Mumbai Indians on Thursday...........
Zaheer who has been laid low with a series of injuries off late was acquired for the princely sum of Rs. 4 crore or so by the said IPL franchise and widely expected to be a vital cog in their pace attack along with the similarly injured Mohammed Shami and Australia's Nathan Coulter Nile.........
One may do well to remember the fact that Zaheer Khan did not turn up for the Mumbai team during the course of the just concluded domestic cricket season citing hamstring; knee and groin injuries but had joined the Delhi Daredevils squad and was widely expected to make his maiden appearance in the team's colours on the fateful Thursday..........
Instead of watching the pulse racing and adrenalin pounding sight of Zaheer racing in to the wicket one was confronted with the sorry and heart rending sight of Mr. Khan hobbling off into the team's tent holding the back of his thigh barely 35-40 minutes into the team's training session early on Thursday evening.........
A rather resigned; forlorn and woe struck skipper J.P. Duminy did indeed confirm the fact that Zaheer had once again aggravated an old injury during the course of his warm up routine; but did not shed light on the extent/severity of the injury and as to whether or not the said injury would rule Zaheer out of the remainder of this year's IPL season...........
With a seriously injured Mohammed Shami being ruled out of the entire IPL tournament and the mystery surrounding Zaheer Khan's latest injury; the onus of donning the mantle now lies with Aussie speedster Nathan Coulter Nile and the other Indian medium pacers Jaydev Unadkat and the little Dominic Joseph who has been stretching every sinew in an effort to measure up to his team management's modest expectations from him........
