Human sacrifice related fears have reared their head in the Subarnarekha area (on the outskirts of the state capital Ranchi) with the retrieval of the headless body of a woman in her twenties late on Thursday evening.......
Though the torso and the alleged murder weapon a bloodied axe was retrieved from the spot in question, the local police has still been unable to find or trace the missing head though almost three days have passed since the body was found........
Local villagers from the Hetu village which falls under the Jagannathpur Police station limits on the outskirts of Ranchi were startled out of their wits when they stumbled upon the body in the twilight of late evening while returning home from their fields and other places of work on that fateful Thursday evening.......
They immediately proceeded to inform the local police authorities, who arrived on the scene in numbers and then proceeded to cordon off the crime scene; prima facie it seems to be a case of human sacrifice, a senior police official said while also admitting that this theory could be debunked during the course of further investigations into the crime.......
As of now, the police forces are eagerly awaiting the post mortem report as the same will be able to shed light on whether or not the female victim who appears to be in her twenties was sexually assaulted before her untimely and diabolic departure from this world........
All neighbouring police stations have been alerted and asked to furnish details of all missing women between the ages of 18 and 25 (if any) from within their respective police station limits and earnest efforts are on to identify the victim at the earliest as this would help establish the exact cause of death..........
And so hangs in the balance yet another case of murder most foul that will be given a quiet burial within the next couple of weeks or so unless the investigators either luck upon the identity of the victim or then some helping soul comes forward with the much needed details pertaining to the girl's identity, antecedents and whereabouts.......
