The lure or then should I say insatiable appetite to possess material wealth surely does strange things to people, turns sons against mothers, brothers against sisters and fathers against their children and all this in an unseemly haste to gain the upper hand and wrest a lion's share of the spoils........
A Delhi trial court has summarily ordered a man and his legally married wife to move out of his mother's home forthwith as the esteemed court (read Judge) was of the opinion that the couple were "mentally torturing" the man's mother who happens to be the legal owner of the very same.....
Directing or then brusquely ordering the couple to vacate the said premises within a calendar month, the court also deemed it fit to ask the couple to pay damages of Rs. 8,000/- per month from the date on which they filed their petition till the date on which they vacated the premises in conjunction with the court's orders.........
Ruling in favour of the plaintiff, Additional District Judge Vinod Yadav maintained that the court is of the opinion that "the plaintiff (Mother) is entitled to the possession of the property from the defendants (Son and Daughter-In-Law) and as such, the defendants cannot be allowed to create third property rights in respect of the disputed property"........
The plaintiff in her affidavit filed before the District Court maintained that she had built the house in the national capital's Sitapuri Extension with her modest earnings as a government schoolteacher way back in 1982 and she had allowed her son and daughter-in-law to dwell in the same out of the goodness of her motherly heart.......
She further went on to say that instead of counting their blessings and taking care of his mother and sisters as is the universal norm; the scheming son in conjunction with his equally greedy wife started subjecting her to mental torture and had thus usurped her natural right to lead her life with dignity and honour........
In the very same affidavit, the long suffering mother maintained that her son and daughter-in-law even stooped to the level of physically assaulting her in order to lay their hands on the property (house) and duly produced medical reports certifying the injuries inflicted upon her by the conniving duo........
Refuting his mother's claims, the son in his affidavit stated the said property was purchased by his father in his mother's name and as such he had legal (full) rights over the same; he also went on to allege that his mother was grievously mentally ill and being treated for her mental ailments for the last few years........
To his dismay and consternation, the court threw out his affidavit or claims with utter contempt and instead maintained that the couple's obnoxious and nocturnal behaviour only served to highlight the fact that the couple wanted to extort money from the hapless woman and usurp her property any which way.........
What is it with us and the lure of the lucre or then should I say easy money, the quest of the same reduces us to gibbering baboons or then bloodthirsty barbarians who will more than willingly beat up our mothers who heroically bore us in their wombs for nine months without uttering a word of protest..........
All one would like to say in conclusion is that such sons should be tarred, feathered and paraded in teeming public places on a donkey so that the same serves as an example to other sons who harbour similar tendencies...........
