DIFFERENTLY ABLED AHMEDABADI'S SHOW ABLE INDIANS THE RIGHT WAY/PATH........

Will reluctant and recalcitrant Hyderabadis who declared a holiday from voting on April 30 take a leaf out of Ahmedabad's differently abled citizens as well as "seniorly" senior citizens books and come out to vote in overwhelming numbers in all forthcoming elections instead of doling out nonsensical and whimsical reasons for not doing so.........
According to various media reports emanating from the sprawling metropolis called Ahmedabad, innumerable senior citizens who are well past the age of 80 as well as differently abled citizens made a beeline towards the polling booths on Wednesday April 30 and cast their precious and much sought after votes in huge numbers........
What was even more encouraging and heart warming or then should I say inspiring was the sight of terminally ill cancer patients and bed ridden citizens who were carried to the polling booths by ever willing and effervescent family members turning up to vote in significant numbers.......
One wonders why Hyderabadis fail to emulate the deeds of their Ahmedabadi counterparts and match their unbounded enthusiasm instead of resorting to the age old excuse of not having found their names on the recently revised and updated electoral rolls........
Yes, I for one am willing to accede to the fact that a few thousand names might have inadvertently slipped the eagle eye of the state election commission but do a few thousand missing names justify the abysmal 53% voting percentage...........
Lazy, indifferent and callous Hyderabadi's sample this for sheer commitment to a cause and one's motherland: Devsinh Rabari (58) a paraplegic who has been confined to the narrow and claustrophobic confines of a wheelchair for the last two decades and more not only provided encouragement and heart to at least 15 other similarly disabled people, but also received a standing ovation from other fellow voters for his sheer commitment to a notable cause........
"Though we lack legs to walk and run like able bodied people we more than make up for our bodily infirmities through our indomitable spirits that want to conquer every hurdle placed in our way; we want the country to be run in an efficient, corruption free, fair and judicious manner through our precious and invaluable votes"........
"Like others, we too have enormous expectations from the new government that will be sworn in after May 16 and we fervently hope that the new dispensation will do something at long last about the contentious and long standing issue of providing jobs and means of livelihood to handicapped and other differently abled citizens", Rabari opines while casting his vote at Ahmedabad's Viratnagar polling station........
Harishbhai Bhatt 72 who suffered a brain haemorrhage and was operated upon for the same a mere ten days before the elections was carried to the polling booths by his ever willing family members; he cannot speak coherently after the recent operation but expressed his desire to cast his vote in writing one family member confesses.........
A 86 year old couple Kusumben and Jitendrabhai Dekhtawla who have problems in moving about freely due to chronic back ailments hitched a ride their more than willing neighbour and all this in order to cast their votes and make a difference.........
25 year old Liyaqat Ghulam Patel who is afflicted with a cancerous tumour has been undergoing both chemotherapy as well as two major surgeries over the course of the last 3 months, is unable to either stand or sit on his own but yet made it a point to come out and cast his valuable vote, with his well wishers and family members cheering him on every step of the way.......
"We are eternally thankful to the obliging and accommodative election officials who literally allowed us to drive Liyaqat right up to the threshold of the mandated polling station", his proud and doting elder sister says.......
Hyderabadis kindly wake up and smell the coffee and more importantly take the time out to learn something from these brave, noble and indomitable souls who simply set aside every affliction and even crossed unimaginable pain barriers in an inspiring effort to go out and vote; your age old excuse about not having found your names on the electoral rolls is nothing but a self deprecatory exercise aimed at salving one's guilty conscience and nothing more.........
Do remember that one who is willing to do a sterling deed by his country always finds a way of doing so rather than making inane excuses for not having done so..........
