Policemen or cops have most often been at the receiving end of brickbats and barbs hurled at them by the Aam Aadmi for their innumerable sins of omission and commission and they seldom if ever get the due credit for their notable achievements..........
There are always two sides of a coin and this time around a conscientious and duty bound cop managed to solve what would have otherwise been written off or cursorily dismissed as yet another case of elopement within a matter of a few hours thereby earning both himself and his parent force considerable credit and the plaudits of the Aam Aadmi..........
This incident may seem old hand to quite a few as it was reported from the so called down market Chandni Mahal area of the national capital on May 5, 2014 and the same occurred when the girl in question had come down to the national to visit her relatives who were long time residents of the same.........
Worried, bewildered and at the proverbial end of their collective wits, the supposedly "missing" girls relatives had duly proceeded to lodge a complaint of abduction against persons unknown who had allegedly "kidnapped" the nubile 14 year old with sinister ulterior motives.......
A case of forced abduction was duly registered against persons unknown by the SHO Anil Sharma who then proceeded to constitute a "crack" team to get to the bottom of this indecipherable maze........
Further investigations into the episode threw up the fact that a 23 year old man residing in the same locality had gone missing ever since the girl was last noticed in the locality and since the needle of suspicion pointed at him, the cops wasted no time whatsoever in establishing his credentials and verifying his antecedents.........
Constable Ravinder who was assigned to the team for his renowned sleuthing abilities somehow managed to zone in on the last cell ID of the suspected 23 year old which showed his last stated location as the national capital's eternally buzzing Janpath area.........
Constable Ravinder then took the onus of tracing the missing girl on his more than capable shoulders and then singly proceeded to scan all the lodges, budget hotels, bus stops and train stations in the area/vicinity before he managed to trace Bhupinder (the 23 year old accused) and the now cowering and much chastised girl in the Gurudwara Bangla Saheb Area.........
He then proceeded to land a few hefty and well timed blows on Bhupinder and extract a confession about his unholy intentions of fleeing the national capital with his unwilling and recalcitrant victim and also that he was awaiting the arrival of the said vehicle in which he planned to flee the city...........
One must certainly give the devil his due and an alert and vigilant Constable Ravinder managed to solve a case of forced abduction, attempt to rape and probable human trafficking within a matter of 8 hours or so; the victim has since been reunited with her harried family and the accused has been remanded to judicial custody for his alleged misdemeanours by a judicial magistrate..........
While there is no denying the fact that most if not all police forces more often than not act at the behest and beck and call of their political lord and masters incidents such as the one quoted above do hold out considerable hope for the future and once again serve to highlight the fact that the nation's police forces are more than capable of discharging their duties with due diligence as long as their political masters are nowhere on the scene........
As for Constable Ravinder, I for one believe that the national media should take up his case without any further ado and highlight his noteworthy achievement in such a manner that others step up to the plate to emulate if not outdo him..........
