Stalking or then the nocturnal habit of pursuing/following a young woman every time she stepped out of the safe confines of her home and hearth ended in a tragic manner as the long suffering and unduly harassed victim chose to take her own life........
A 20 year old female resident of the national capital's Krishna Nagar area who was pursuing her B.Com degree through correspondence from the Delhiuniversity was found hanging from the ceiling of her bed room on Saturday.........
According to both neighbours and family sources, the young woman was deeply distressed and depressed because she was being continually and incessantly harassed by two male neighbours and also because her proposed marriage had been called off as her parents were unable to fulfil the outlandish/exorbitant dowry demands being put forth by the family of the wannabe groom.........
Continuing with the heart rending saga, the very same family member let our the fact that the local police have retrieved a clip from her mobile phone in which the victim has clearly alluded to the fact that she was ending her life as she was unable to bear the constant harassment of her two male neighbours..........
She also left behind a suicide note that legibly stated the fact that she was also deeply perturbed on account of her marriage being called off and had thus decided to take recourse to this extreme measure as she was simply unable to shoulder the constant torment, torture, humiliation and sense of shame, the grieving family member said........
Local police officials have initiated a detailed probe into the episode after duly registering a case of aiding or then abetting the suicide as well as harassment against the two youths; we are also minutely examining the footage on her mobile and arrests will soon be made once we have definite proof of the two youth's culpability and guilt, a senior police official said........
Squarely blaming the two youths/young men for the sordid state of affairs, the victim's heart broken father said that the two men who incidentally are brothers) used to perpetually harass his daughter by either ogling at her, making offensive and sexually laden gestures or then passing lewd and loaded comments every single time she passed them........
They were not only satisfied with this and even ventured onto our terrace and fondled various parts of her anatomy when she was alone on our terrace and also physically assaulted her on at least three distinct occasions when she took a stand and vehemently opposed their brutish and loutish behaviour.........
We did file numerous complaints against the two brothers, the victim's uncle said, but the local police authorities deemed it fit to let them off with a warning instead of taking them into custody and putting some much needed sense into their heads, he fumed.........
Holding back his tears, the victim's father asks, the senior investigating officers have cogent and definitive proof against the brothers both in visual as well as written form, but are yet to either interrogate the brothers or take them into custody for reasons that seem to be known only to them.........
"I am a helpless and defenceless average middle class man who neither has access to the Delhi police bigwigs or then the high and mighty local politicians who can force the police to shed their lethargy and reticence by taking the two accused into custody forthwith, where am I to turn in order to get my long suffering daughter justice and a sense of closure", he piteously wails........
Will the police share their reasons for doing so with the harrowing father of the victim or then simply proceed to write off this aided and abetted suicide as yet another case of one of those things; well your guess is as good as mine on this one.......
