One had heard of prolonged and incessant quarrels between parents affecting the mental make up of children but an incessant quarrel ending in the cold blooded murder of an hapless and innocent child is a first one for a cynical old soul like moi............
A prolonged, incessant and acrimonious exchange between an irate couple came to a diabolic and blood curdling end when the male half or then should I say male component of the warring couple beheaded his son and then proceeded to flee from the scene...........
According to bewildered and dumbfounded neighbours they had initially ignored the loud sounds emanating from their neighbours house as one of those things that happens with nauseating regularity but were then shocked and consternated to hear loud and heart rending wails that forced them to rush to the spot in considerable haste on that fateful Monday night..........
According to a few neighbours, Chaman (the accused) had a particularly acrimonious and bitter argument with his spouse following which she proceeded to her parent's house with her young son in tow; but an irate and inebriated Chaman reached his in-law's house in an Udaipur village on Monday night and demanded that the two go back with him to their house forthwith..............
He then proceeded to hurl the choicest abuses at his wife's parents and other family members but the grotesque proceedings came to a head when he somehow managed to land his hands on a sword and decapitated his young son with the same; his wife's uncle who tied to intervene and restore some semblance of order was also attacked by Chaman and suffered bleeding injuries on his torso..............
Chaman somehow managed to keep his wits about him and make good his escape from the murder site after disdainfully brushing aside his father-in-law's feeble attempts to detain him............
Local police officials who were summoned to the murder site by a distraught and grieving family have duly recovered the murder weapon (sword) from the spot and are more than optimistic about their chances of nabbing Chaman within the next 72 hours as a lookout notice has been circulated throughout Rajasthan as well as the adjoining states..........
And thereby hangs a tale of murderous rage that assumed killing proportions..........
