Is a measly Rs. 250, the cost of a precious human life, read on and find out how cheap and inconsequential human lives have become in our national capital...........
In yet another incident that belies every laid down yardstick of reasoning and logical thought, a precious human life was snuffed out in it's prime in the national capital's Okhla wholesale market area on Monday night as a heated argument broke out between the victims and assailants over the piffling sum of Rs. 250........
25 year old Yusuf who co-owned a roadside eatery in the above mentioned area was firstly stabbed in the abdominal area and later assaulted with iron rods by Rashid (21), Saheb (19) and Akram (21) because he demanded the immediate settlement of the amount of Rs. 250 (the amount payable for the dinner that the 3 assailants had consumed)........
HIs sibling (brother) Nawab who tried his level best to intervene in the fracas and sort out matters was also stabbed and assaulted and is currently battling for his life at the AIIMS trauma centre........
According to eyewitnesses, (fellow shopkeepers and stall owners), the 3 assailants were notorious goons of the area and were known to pick up quarrels and fights with anybody and everybody for the flimsiest of reasons and sometimes even without a plausible reason.........
"Things were fine in the market area till around 11:30 pm or so on Monday night until we heard sounds of a heated argument emanating from the vicinity of the afore mentioned roadside food stall"........
"On reaching there we found that Yusuf was involved in a heated argument with the notorious trio and that he was putting his foot down and demanding the immediate settlement of the amount of Rs. 250 as it was the cost of the food that the trio had consumed"..... .....
"One of the three assailants Rashid was arguing vehemently with Yusuf and accusing him of overcharging them while his other two accomplices were involved in the act of pushing Yusuf around and roughing him up".......
"Matters however came to a head when Akram pulled out a knife and stabbed Yusuf in his abdomen at least thrice while the other two pulled out the rods that were used to grill kababs in the tandoor and started assaulting Yusuf with the same".........
"We were petrified that the same calamity might befall us if we as much as raised our voice and hence we preferred to remain mute spectators, but Nawab who saw Yusuf collapse to the ground and lie there in a rapidly spreading pool of his own blood and guts came to his aid and valiantly tried to ward off his brother's assailants as a result of which, the three assailants turned upon him and stabbed and brutalised him before disappearing into the night".............
"We then proceeded to inform the local police station and police personnel from the local police station arrived at the spot within ten minutes or so and rushed the grievously injured brothers to the nearby AIIMS trauma centre where Yusuf was declared brought dead while Nawab is till battling for his life within the same", the local stall owner and eyewitness signs off..........
According to police sources, they immediately launched a massive manhunt for the absconding trio but failed to nab them on Monday night, but were far more successful in their quest on Tuesday morning as the absconding trio made a beeline towards the spot where the grotesque murder occurred and were promptly arrested by alert police personnel............
The trio have since been produced before a judicial magistrate and remanded to judicial custody; "we have filed cases against them under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code and are extremely confident about the fact that we will be able to build up or construct a watertight case against them", the investigating officer opines...........
