Bravery and valour thy name is certainly the Indian woman as she has time and again proved her mettle when the going gets really tough and her mettle is tested under the most trying circumstances........
Displaying exemplary courage, valour and gumption a 29 year old female resident of West Delhi's modest Tilak Nagar area not only upended or thwarted a robbery in progress by valiantly grabbing the pistol of one of the robbers who made their way into her home and hearth, but also managed to apprehend two of the four armed robbers who had unceremoniously barged into her home without her permissions.......
Alert and conscientious neighbours who were alerted by her cries for help helped her in no small measure and expedited the apprehension of the two armed desperadoes who have since been identified as Devender Sahu and Santosh; a country made revolver, toy pistol, two live cartridges, dagger and switchblade that were recovered from their possession were duly handed over to the local police personnel along with the duo........
According to eyewitnesses and neighbours, Ekta Batra (the doughty brave heart) who mostly lived by herself in her modest house in the Tilak Nagar area was taken aback when a stranger made her way into her house at around 8:30 pm in the late evening of Friday evening.......
She accosted him and asked him why he was trying to enter her compound without her permission when he was joined by his three armed accomplices, one of whom rough handed her back into her house, brandished their weapons and demanded that she hand over all the valuables within her house........
The armed robbers were however taken by utter and complete surprise as the woman grabbed one of the four pistols brandished in her face and raised a hue and cry at the top of her voice and she not only grabbed the pistol but managed to tackle the person brandishing the said pistol as a result of which he found himself reduced to nothing more to a cowering heap on the stairs leading to the upper levels of the house.......
What compounded the misery of the four armed desperadoes even further was the fact that a flock of neighbours who were alerted and alarmed by her cries for help happened upon the spot and managed to collectively nab Devender Sahu and Santosh who were trying to make their way out of the hotspot......
Two out of the four armed robbers however managed to escape in the ensuing melee and fracas; the absconding duo have since been identified as Mukesh and Shivam and the area police are extremely optimistic about nabbing them soon as four special teams have been constituted and entrusted with the onerous responsibility of tracing their whereabouts......
Lauding her exemplary courage, valour and presence of mind, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) said that he would be recommending her name for a requisite and well deserved bravery award.......
He also exhorted other women to emulate her noteworthy example and asked them to stand up and confront their cowardly assailants rather than reducing themselves to cowering heaps of abject humanity who give in to every unreasonable and unearthly demand made by armed men........
