The spirit of adventurism is fine as long as it does not inconvenience others, becomes an irritant rather than an eye catching spectacle and last but not the least does not endanger the lives of both the willing participant as well as the innocent bystander........
High security areas surrounding the iconic India Gate in the national capital witnessed an extremely hap hazard and chaotic Saturday late night/Sunday early morning as a bikers gang comprising of about 40 people deemed it fit to unleash their braggadacio and misplaced sense of machismo on the hapless residents of these areas........
According to residents of the affected areas, the "sound inundation" started at around 11:30 pm on Saturday night and carried on till about 1:30 am on Sunday morning until the local police personnel who were alerted by the constant barrage of telephone calls made by irate residents happened upon the area, booked nine marauding bikers under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and seized/impounded four bikes from the spot........
"An impressive number of 288 vehicles in all, comprising of 36 cabs and 237 bikes were subjected to intense scrutiny by the police teams who were out in these areas".........
"These very same teams challaned nine bikers and impounded four motorcycles from two spots", said Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) SBS Tyagi.........
Tilak Marg, Akbar Road and Hanuman Road are the favourite areas of these rowdy bikers according to the long suffering residents of areas adjoining these roads.........
These people venture out on these roads with scant regard for either the law or lives and security of fellow motorists using these roads, apportion a major portion of these roads as if they owned them and proceed to misbehave with female motorists at any and every given opportunity.......
One irate citizen even went as far as alleging that the police and the bikers were hand in glove with each other, "most of these bikers are the scions of well connected and well heeled families, the police momentarily impound their bikes and book the owners of the same in order to create the illusion that they are indeed doing their level best to arrest this rapidly growing menace, but then proceed to let the repeat offenders off with nothing more than a mere rap on the knuckles so that they can make our lives a living misery and pounce upon our daughters and bahus"........
