One really wonders why the on field umpires and match referees did not wisen upto or then latch onto disgraced Pakistani off spinner Saaed Ajmal's "highly suspect" bowling action during the six odd years that he has been on the international circuit and only called him for an illegal bowling action during the recently concluded Galle test........
On a day when the Pakistan Cricket Control Board Chairman Shaharyar Khan gallantly revealed the fact that tests carried out on Ajmal's bowling action at the Australian bio-mechanics lab on Thursday alluded to the fact that Ajmal bent his bowling arm beyond the 40 degree angle while bowling his "doosra" and as much as between 32 and 38 degrees while delivering his other patented deliveries like the floater, slower and quicker ones.......
Every cricketing pundit worth his/her salt would be eminently aware of the fact that the International Cricket Council (ICC) allows any and every bowler the liberty of bending his bowling arm upto the 15 degree mark and any delivery bowled or delivered with an arm bending beyond the 15 degree mark is deemed to be illegal.........
Remarkably aware of the fact that Ajmal's absence would all but end the potency of Pakistan's considerably bludgeoned bowling attack; the PCB has deemed it fit to engage the services of former Pakistani spin wizard Saqlain Mushtaq who will be paid the princely sum of one million Pakistani rupees per month for the three odd months that he is slated to spend with Ajmal in a renewed effort to remodel his action as per the ICC"s diktats pertaining to bowling actions.........
Harangued, harassed and bedraggled PCB officials revealed that Ajmal will begin his "rehabilitation" schedule or programme come Monday (September 15,2014) in Lahore with Saqlain Mushtaq and also that the same will be directly monitored by the newly formed PCB committee on illegal deliveries..........
Here's hoping that Saqlain's efforts bear fruit as the continued absence of Ajmal from the bowling crease will only serve to further dent their already considerably diminished chances of doing well during the course of the oncoming "home" series against Australia that is slated to be held in Dubai/Sharjah/Abu Dhabi during October/November 2014 as well as the World Cup of Cricket that is scheduled to be held in Australia/New Zealand in February/March 2015...........
