ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY PICHKARI OR SPRAY GUN.......

The sky is certainly the limit as far as human endeavour and imagination goes; living/economic conditions, educational background or then conspicuous absence of the same notwithstanding........
A group of ubiquitous rag pickers from the national capital have done both themselves as well as the rest of the country proud by pioneering an environment friendly "pichkari" or spray gun that is bound to warm the cockles of every environmentalists heart and soul........
These rag pickers who are being housed, educated and looked after by NGO's like Chetna and Save The Children have put their brains together and conjured up a "dry" pichkari that is entirely made up of environment friendly cardboard instead of the usual hazardous and non bio-degradable plastic that causes irreparable harm to the environment.......
"All you have to do is to feed some gulal or any other environment/skin friendly colour of your choice into the belly of these spray guns, depress the plunger and lo and behold, the "pichkari" emits a fine spray of the very same colour instead of the usual water and colour mixture as is the case of a plastic pichkari" 11 year old Manisha, one of the inventors of this pioneering spray gun goes onto remark ......... ;
"This pichkari or spray gun is entirely made up of discarded and rotting cardboard cartons, the best of which are sorted out, saved, treated and then converted into these "pichkaris" or spray guns.......
"All you have to do is to insert or feed environment friendly gulal into it's burgeoning belly and then you can have a safe and environment friendly holi" 13 year old Deepak one of the co-inventors of the product goes on to say..........
Higher ups within the two NGO's said that they had no plans whatsoever of introducing these "pichkaris" in the open market and selling them on a large scale, or exploring their/it's commercial viability,they instead appealed to all teenagers or then children before the ages of 9 and 15 to approach the NGO"s and learn how to make /assemble their very own environment friendly spray guns.........
The bustling Lajpat Nagar area is where these rag pickers net most of their "goodies" from and these goodies (read discarded cardboard cartons) proved to be their "flubber" as three of them hit upon the idea of conjuring up these "pichkaris" during the course of one of their art and crafts classes........
This initiative was undertaken by these NGO's with requisite financial aid from Aviva and the express purpose behind these classes is to impart such soft skills to these rag pickers that will sustain them throughout the rest of their lives and also lead to their economic emancipation........
Sanjay Gupta, Director of the NGO Chetna said that "this invention though seemingly trivial highlights the fact that the pioneering spirit abundantly resides in the minds and souls of those children that our so called civilised society looks down upon as they perform a menial and "dirty" task that a hpocritical and holier than thou soul would never ever perform willingly".......
This pichkari is surely here to stay and the much abused environment must surely be thanking and blessing these "blessed angels" who have ended up doing it a favour of immense proportions........
