A blind date proved to be more than costly for a twenty year old Delhi University student as her suitor ended up spiking her drinks and raping herat a remote location in the national capital's Dwarka area late on Wednesday evening.........
According to the investigating officer, the incident took place when the student who also doubles up as a part time worker in an export garment factory in Dwarka was more than enthusiastic about meeting a male person whom she had come to know through facebook and numerous conversations on her mobile phone........
The victim and her tormentor ended up meeting each other at a high end 24 hour cafe early Wednesday morning (at around 12:30 am or so) and her so called friend and confidante offered her a concoction (mocktail) that was heavily laced or laden with sedatives which knocked the victim out for the next 8 to 9 hours.........
He then proceeded to lead his "blind date" to a flat where he raped her continually over the next 4-5 hours before making good his escape from the crime scene; the victim regained her consciousness and senses at around 9 am or so and only then realised the sorry fate that had befallen her..........
Keeping her wits about her, she somehow managed to find her way out of the flat in which she was sexually assaulted, broke down and confided in a group of friends who duly led her to the Dwarka (north) police station where a FIR was lodged against the assailant under sections 328 (drugging) and 376 (rape) on the basis of the written complaint filed by the victim and her friends at around 3 pm on Wednesday evening........
Getting cracking on the case without any further ado, the Dwarka cops managed to lay their hands on the accused at around 9:30 pm or so on the same night (Wednesday night) after successfully tracking his mobile location and are currently interrogating him in a police lock up........
Do remember that due diligence is indeed the name of the game as far as "blind dates" or for that matter any other kind of dates are concerned, trust if you must but only after ascertaining the fact that your male friend is indeed worthy of your trust, friendship and honour.........
