Our men in white (the Indian test team) will certainly have their task cut out when they take on an under performing English team in the first of a five match test series at the iconic Trent Bridge ground come July 9.........
Team India which will be playing a five test series in England after many a year have a less than inspiring record on the iconic Trent Bridge pitch which is known for it's penchant of favouring fast men who can either seam or then swing the Duke red cherry at pace........
India has only won one out of the five test matches that if has played on this ground, lost two and drawn two and to top it all, men who have never ever been exposed to the rigours and pressures of five test series at any time of their mostly young and developing cricket careers will be cruelly exposed to the same with memories of a 4-0 whitewash on their last tour of England uppermost..........
Ishant Sharma who has widely been touted as the Indian pace bowling spearhead in the absence of veteran Zaheer Khan has done precious little to justify his elevation, he di pick up two wickets in the recently concluded practice match against Leicestershire but also conceded 64 runs in the nine overs that he sent down during the course of the county team's batting effort..........
Messrs Dhoni and Fletcher might well be inclined to try out all eighteen members of the touring party like they did in the first practice match when they take to the pitch in their second practice match against county side Derbyshire in an effort to narrow down and decide upon their playing eleven before the advent of the business end of the long and arduous two odd month long tour...........
The batsmen more or less pick themselves with the injury scare surrounding dashing opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan and the patchy form displayed by middle order batsman Rohit Sharma being the only causes for concern............
Dhawan (if he has fully recovered from his injury), Vijay, Pujara, Kohli, Sharma, Rahane and Dhoni pick themselves unless Messrs and Dhoni show an inclination towards roping in the services of Stuart Binny as a batting all rounder who can send down a few overs of medium paced stuff as and when desired.........
As usual it is the bowling that will be causing the think tank sleepless nights with a profligate Ishant Sharma, and his comrades in arms Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Mohammad Shami still struggling to find their feet as well as come to terms with the alien and somewhat daunting English conditions..........
I for one would be be inclined to go in with four medium pacers with Rohit Sharma sending down a few offers of amiable off spin to give the faster men a break and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Mohammad Shami, Pankaj Singh and Varun Aaron would be my go to men for the simple reason that Bhuvi swings the ball both ways with nauseating regularity while the other three have the ability to both swing as well as seam the red cherry at a rather disconcerting pace and history has it that no batsman has ever been utterly at ease when confronted with a ball that is swinging and seaming around at pace...........
Luckily for me, I am not saddled with the burden of picking and choosing the playing eleven and though I hate to second guess Messrs Dhoni and Fletcher; I for one firmly believe that they will stick to a boring and age old script and select Bhuvi, Ishant, Shami and Ashwin as the four "specialist" bowlers who will be entrusted with the onerous responsibility of picking up twenty English wickets and thereby notch up an exceedingly rare test win on English soil...........

DELHI BASED TEENAGER DETAINED FOR BURNING YOUNGER BROTHER'S FRIEND'S FACE.........

Teenagers or then should I say Delhi's teenagers seem well on their way towards becoming a law unto themselves what with their remarkable propensity to hurl deadly and life threatening chemicals at others of their own ilk if their prophecies of doom go unheeded.........
In an incident right out of Ripley's "Believe it or Not", a 11 year old teenager suffered severe burns on his face and neck area after bearing the brunt of an unprovoked chemical attack on him by his friend's elder brother also a minor in East Delhi's Karaval Nagar area.........
According to sources in the know of things, the two seemingly inseparable friends had a minor tiff following which the accused had threatened the 11 year old victim with dire consequences if he saw him playing with his younger brother henceforth; the assailant has since been detained and send to a juvenile correctional facility........
This horrendous incident was reported from Gali Number 2 of the national capital's Karaval Nagar area late on Sunday evening when Upendra (the victim) was playing with a group of friends right opposite his house and got into some kind of argument or disagreement with one of them........
Upendra subsequently also got into an argument with his friend's elder brother (the accused) and allegedly pushed him away when the accused tried to hold him by his collar, enraged by Upendra's actions, the 14 year old picked up a bottle containing a chemical mostly used as a bleaching agent on Upendra's persona...........
The bottle broke on coming into contact with Upoendra's face and the chemical contained within the same spread all over Upendra's face and neck leading to the charring of his face and neck area; Upendra was rushed to an adjoining hospital by his deeply concerned family members and the doctors attending on him have expressed latent fears of him losing his vision for life if the treatments being given to him do not yield the desired or anticipated results.........
His assailant who was detained from his house within a mere matter of minutes has since been sent to a juvenile correctional facility (home) and will soon be enjoying freedom and a blissful life within a three year time frame as that is the maximum sentencing allowed under the prevalent or existing laws in this regard..........
And all this while his victim might end up losing his eyesight as well as remaining disfigured for the rest of his natural life thanks to a juvenile offender who will be allowed to go scot free after serving his meted out sentence instead of being reduced to a life of purgatory and repentance that he so richly deserves...........

RAHUL DRAVID AS TEAM INDIA'S BATTING CONSULTANT........

In an almost done deal Indian cricketing icon and batsman extraordinaire Rahul Sharad Dravid will soon be joining the beleaguered Indian cricket team in England for a short stint as it's batting consultant..........
Dravid who boasted of a career average in excess of 68 against the much vaunted English bowling attack will be mentoring the Indian batting line up and imparting the techincal expertise required to cope with the swinging and seaming Duke cricket ball in congenial English conditions.........
BCCI sources have confirmed the welcome development and added that this was done purely at the behest of Messrs Dhoni and Fletcher who were of the considered opinion that Dravid's experiences of having mastered the English attack time and again in seemingly hostile conditions would prove to be an invaluable part of the Indian batting line ups mental make up during the make or break five test series that gets underway on July 9,2014..........
Mr. Dravid who is already in England in connection with the MCC and Rest of World annual cricketing jamboree slated for July 5 will assume charge as team India's batting consultant with immediate effect and will continue to discharge this role for as long as the team management desires........

SELF STYLED SWAMI RAPES 47 YEAR OLD WOMAN WITHIN MUTT PREMISES.........

In an almost exact reprisal of the infamous Asaram Bapu case/incident; a 59 year old self styled "Swamiji" was arrested by the Belgaum (Karnataka) police on the charges of having raped a 47 year old woman within his so called mutt premises located in the Anjaneyanagar area of the city on Saturday afternoon.........
Basava Prabhu Swamiji (the accused) claims to be the head of the local chapter of the Vishwa Lingayat Dharma Parishad Trust that was established some ten or so months ago while the 47 year old victim is originally a native of Hubli city and had formally joined the rank and file of the mutt on that very same fateful (Saturday) morning........
According to the victim she had just finished preparing and serving lunch to the so called Swamiji and two other males when the accused requested her to place an empty plate and tumbler within his room; lo and behold, he surreptitiously entered the room right after the accused, subdued and raped her and then left the room after threatening her with the now stereotyped dire consequences...........
To the so called swamiji's dismay and consternation, the victim proved to be made of sterner stuff and she proceeded to lodge a complaint against her assailant in the company of two other concerned fellow employees at the Malamaruthi police station within two hours or so after the unsavoury incident...........
Taking due cognisance of her complaint, the area police proceeded to arrest the self styled "godman" who originally hails from the Shiraguppi village in Bagalkot District and claims to have taken "deeksha" at the tender age of 22 from the mutt premises at around 6 pm or so on the same (Saturday) evening.........
A case has since been booked against the accused under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and both the assaulter as well as victim have been admitted to the district government hospital for the legally mandated tests and examinations..........
What is it with these so called swamiji's and their penchant to sexually exploit anything and everything in a female form; I for one am completely stumped and flummoxed as far as the reasons for this bizarre predilection is concerned, maybe you could throw some much needed illumination on the same..........

A failed and furtive attempt to set his despised and disliked school on fire nearly end up costing a Kolkata based 13 year old boy his life as he is battling for life after suffering from severe burns in the failed and utterly foolhardy attempt........
Yes you did indeed hear or rather read it right; a 13 year old boy from Tiljala is desperately battling for his life in a Kolkata hospital after his utterly despicable attempt to set his allegedly demonic school on fire only ended up putting his pubescent life in deathly peril.........
According to police sources the boy who suffered more than 60% burn injuries in the furtive attempt initially claimed that he had been struck by a bolt of lightning when he sauntered into the school's toilet at around 2:30 pm or so on Wednesday afternoon.........
Subsequent investigations carried out by the local police personnel however threw up the rather startling and macabre fact on Friday that the boy in question had allegedly carried a bottle of petrol with him into the toilet and tried to set a portion of his utterly despised school alight, but only ended up severely injuring himself in the process..........
Teachers, fellow students and classmates let out or revealed the fact that the young fellow had always vehemently hated his school because he was simply incapable of coping up with the syllabus/curriculum, had failed several times and was still languishing in class III despite being 13 years of age.........
His inexperience and lack of knowledge ended up costing him dear as he is currently undergoing a proverbial ordeal by fire in a city hospital and the doctors attending on him are not exactly gung ho about his chances of surviving the self inflicted injuries..........
Ah!!!! the follies of youth and misplaced bravado.........

OFFICIALLY SANCTIONED OR ORDAINED OPERATION PAY OFF GETS UNDERWAY.........

One has heard constant whispers and snide remarks about pay offs having been made to various cricketing boards in order to ensure disgraced former BCCI president Narayanswamy Srinivasan's anointment as the first ever Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), but the statement emanating from sources within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) not only lifted the lid off the proverbial can of worms but also put to rest all doubts one had in this regard..........
In a obvious and blatant pay off for not having opposed Srinivasan's election, the PCB has been rewarded with the juicy and financially ripe cherry of six bilateral series between the two constantly warring neighbours and arch rivals India and Pakistan between 2015-2023, four of which will be played on supposedly neutral grounds and venues in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).........
Announcing the welcome (for the PCB at least) development on Thursday, (Srinivasan's first day in office as ICC chairman), the PCB spokesman gleefully disclosed the fact that the Indian Cricket Board had duly turned the Memorandums of Agrrement (MOUs) signed by the board officials earlier this year into binding agreements between the two boards and that the six hitherto agreed upon bilateral series would now be played between 2015-2023.........
What he however failed to disclose was the fact that the done deal was a promised pay off for not opposing Srinivasan's official anointment as the first ever ICC chairman despite having raised a massive hue and cry about the same and other such unsavoury developments within the ICC echelons when these contentious issues were first promoted or then floated for consideration............
So all's well that ends well as far the two parties are concerned as both have got what they wanted to begin with, Srinivasan has been officially anointed and deified as the ICC's first ever chairman and a cash strapped and almost defunct PCB has got a renewed lease of life and welcome shot in the arm what with the six tours being made an integral part of the ICC's future tours programme as well as the UAE willing to play hosts to four supposedly bilateral series............
As for sage words and sentiments like propriety, honesty, dignity, decorum and conscience; did these terms and sentiments ever exist in both Srinivasan's as well as the PCB's lexicon in the first place..........

15 YEAR OLD BOY FILES TORTURE COMPLAINT AGAINST PARENTS AT POLICE STATION........

One has heard of innumerable cases of police torture and brutality in custody, but an instance of a police officer torturing his very own son under his roof in connivance with his current wife certainly caused a jaded and cynical soul like me to sit up and take notice.........
A 15 year old class ten student approached the Sola ( town near Ahmedabad, Gujarat) police personnel on Thursday morning and duly proceeded to file a complaint of physical torture and constant ill-treatment against his father and step mother........
Acting on the complaint filed by the boy (supposed victim), the concerned police officials started verifying the antecedents of both his parents and were rather taken aback when the fact about his father being none other than a sub-inspector attached to another police station in the same area emerged..........
Rather than acting as per the diktats of a pre ordained script and summarily arrest the accused parents, the investigating officer decided to summon the parents of the boy to the said police station and offer them some sage advice about the significance of family and maintaining convivial relations within home and hearth...........
As the victim's father was extremely busy with the dress rehearsals of the fast approaching rath yatra's police bandobast (arrangements), the SHO of the Sola police station summoned the boy's step mother who was named as a repeat offender who beat him at the slightest of pretexts in his complaint.........
According to police sources, the 15 year old boy reached the police station in an autorickshaw and tearfully proceeded to reveal the fact that his step mother constantly beat him up and also that his father did nothing to dissuade her and also joined her in beating him up sometimes.......
In her defence, the step mother said that she had beaten up the boy as he had repeatedly accused her of having an illicit relationship with his father despite the two being legally married and the boy's father who had rushed to the police station on being informed about the police complaint filed against him by a colleague added his two bits saying that he needed to discipline his errant son as he constantly threatened his classmates by saying that his father was a sub-inspector and would fix them if they did not concede to his outlandish demands.....
However, all's well that ends well as both the supposed victim as well as his parents were turned back without an official complaint being filed; but not before the SHO as well as counsellors from a local NGO impressed upon them a few illuminating and much required facts about the importance of family as well as understanding and accommodating each other's point of view as well as perspectives on life instead of constantly squabbling and making a public spectacle of themselves........

One should always be supremely confident about one's innate ability to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds; but overconfidence can more often than not prove to be the pride before an unseemly fall.........
Exuding confidence before team India's two odd long month tour of England, recalled Indian opening batsman Gautam Gambhir who has made a comeback after spending eighteen odd months in the cricketing wilderness exuded supreme confidence about team India's chances of besting the English lions in a make or break five test series in English climes.........
Being confident about one's chances is certainly a good thing but a reality check is even better; the less said about team India's opening batsmen the better; Shikhar Dhawan seemed like a fish out of water during India's tours of New Zealand and South Africa, while his partner in crime Murali Vijay did certainly acquit himself a little better but his exploits with the bat did everything else but set the Ganges on fire........
As for Gauti himself, may I take this opportunity of reminding him that the English bowlers; one Stuart Broad in particular got his goat the last time team India were in England and put an exclamation mark on his then flourishing international career.........
The fact of the matter is that team India is overdependent on Messrs Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara as these are the only two Indian batsmen with the wherewithal, technical skills and mental acumen to cope with both the swinging as well as seaming ball that is as natural as the mercurial English weather.........
As for the bowlers, I for one am keeping my fingers crossed and ardently hoping that one Bhuvaneshwar Kumar who swings the ball like the proverbial banana does himself credit by wreaking havoc on a revamped English batting line up comprising of Messrs Robson, Cook, Ballance, Bell, Root, Ali and last but not the least Prior; but one swallow does not a summer make and one rampaging bowler is not good enough to win you a five test series..........
Ishant Sharma seems to have regressed if anything; he seems to be lacking self belief and believing his doubts and doubting his abilities; I for one for the hell of me cannot even begin to remember when Ishant came up with an incisive spell of undiluted fast bowling that left it's indelible impression on the opposition..........
New kid on the block, Mohammad Shami who was being touted as the panacea to India's fast bowling illnesses until very recently came a cropper during the recently concluded Indian Premier League, he showed a remarkable penchant or tendency to spray the ball around at pace and got his supposedly lethal yorkers horrendously wrong; one may well argue that there is a world of difference between the two formats but current form and match preparedness are the stuff of yore and Shami seems to be cutting a sorry figure on both accounts.........
I for one would plump for either Ishwar Pandey or then Pankaj Singh as the third seamer in place of a gloriously under performing Ishant Sharma for the simple reason that the two of them have been picking up wickets by the wagon full over the last three seasons or more of domestic cricket and also because both have the ability to swing as well as get the ball to rise disconcertingly from a length because of their heights as well as upper body strength...........
Here's hoping against hope and praying that team India does certainly cover itself in glory this time around as yet another 4-0 drubbing might not only sound the death knell on the careers of Messrs Dhoni and Fletcher but also place many a promising young cricketer on the rack for good.........

A 20 year old Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) based woman filed a police complaint early Tuesday evening against eight youths who not only allegedly gang raped her a little over a year ago but also crowned their so called "achievement" by posting visuals of their criminal act on various social networking sites..........
When the local police officials questioned about her abject silence on the episode for this long; the victim riposted saying that she kept quiet out of the nagging and lingering fear that her attackers would make good their threat of posting visuals of her moment of shame and humiliation on social networking sites as threatened........
She further went on to say that she somehow mustered up the courage to approach the local police officials with her complaint after several friends informed her about having seen the damaging visuals that had the latent potential of maligning her reputation and causing irreparable harm to her character on social networking site facebook times without end........
According to senior police officials four of the eight accused were nabbed from three separate locations within the city late Tuesday evening while a massive manhunt has been launched in order to apprehend the remaining four accused at the earliest.........
According to the woman's written complaint she had more than willingly gone for a lunch date with a male friend near Basadha village when four of his friends abruptly barged in to her considerable ire and dismay; the five of them than joined forces and forced her to a secluded and isolated location where they were joined by three more accomplices and partners in crime.........
They then proceeded to subdue the victim and took turns in raping her over a five hour long period and also video graphed their bestial act in order to ensure that the victim did not approach any third person and reveal details of the sorry fat that had befallen her due to omnipresent threat of disclosure and social ostracisation..........
Police sources further confirmed the fact that cases had been filed under the relevant provisions of both the IPC as well as IT acts against the eight accused youths: Rashid, Wasik, Abdul Rehman, Monu, Rahul, Salau, Abdul and Shokan..........
And thereby rests a sordid and inhuman tale of bestiality, beastliness, depravity and implied threats of disclosure........

SRI LANKA NOTCHES UP EXCEEDINGLY RARE TEST SERIES WIN ON ENGLISH SOIL........

Sri Lanka's indomitable lions created history on English soil on a typically balmy, rainy, heady and intoxicating Tuesday evening by picking up the last English wicket with just one ball to spare of the final over of an eventful and tumultuous Headingley test match.........
The rampaging Lankan test team ably and creditably led by all rounder Angelo Matthews thus notched up the rare and much sought after distinction of bettering or rather humbling the much hyped English test team by a whopping hundred (100) run margin in the second and final test of a two test series that culminated in a memorable and exceedingly rare "away" series win.........

A nine year old boy hailing from the Pakistani city of Lahore received a renewed lease of life thanks to the sterling efforts of a dedicated and persevering team of doctors from Noida's Fortis Hospital who successfully performed simultaneous kidney and liver transplant surgeries on the long suffering young boy on Tuesday..........
The successful surgeries were the end result of a conjoined or coordinated effort between the officials of the Pakistani foreign ministry, officials from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad and last but not the least, the concerned and conscientious team of doctors from Noida's Fortis Hospital..........
Amaar Asif, the nine year old boy has been continually suffering from hyperoxaluria (an extremely rare and life threatening condition caused by the overproduction of a chemical oxalate that combines with calcium to form an extremely hard compound that is the main component of kidney stones) for the last five years and more of his nascent and fledgling life............
According to his relieved and eternally thankful mother Unaiza, Aamar had become extremely weak and was in excruciating pain because of his condition; "he was so weak and uncoordinated that routine tasks like playing a game of cricket with his friends or then attending school on a daily basis had become a hellish ordeal for him".........

Aamar's paternal uncle was kind enough to part with his kidney while his maternal uncle more than willingly parted with a part of his liver so that their nephew got an extended and long overdue second lease of life; Aamar's father Asif Elahi owns what is popularly referred to as a "Mom and Pop" store in Lahore and the Pakistani government bore the lion's share of the cost of the operation as the family's modest means did not allow them to bear the cost of the extensive surgery........
Aamar who is looking a lot better after the life transforming surgery intends visiting a few malls and picking a few souvenirs for his friends and family members back home before he wends his way back to home and hearth in a little over a fortnight.........

A 28 year old female police constable posted at the state's Midnapore Police Lines was allegedly raped by a long standing male acquaintance when she was home alone late on Saturday night.........
Keeping her wits about her, the victim duly proceeded to file a written complaint against her assailant one Azizul Rahman Khan at the Kotwali Police Station on Sunday night following which he was arrested from his humble dwelling on Monday morning..........
Khan, 45 was charged under section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and the victim's statement was duly recorded under section 164 of the CrPC at the designated Midnapore court in the presence of a judicial magistrate on Monday morning.........
According to the investigating officer, the accused who is supposedly happily married and a father of three to boot and the victim were previously involved in a dubious relationship; he lived in the vicinity and even knew the victim's parents, the two also bonded as they hailed from the same Garbeta area and since Khan had proved to be a pillar of support when the victim's father had taken seriously ill........
According to the written complaint filed by the victim, Khan who seemed to be inebriated at the time forcibly entered her quarter on the fateful Saturday night when the victim was on leave, forced himself on her more than once and made good his escape from the spot after threatening her with dire consequences if she revealed details of the incident to any third person.........
Like I asked earlier, will Mamata Didi accept the abject reality about the deplorable state of law and order within her domain or then will she continue to remain in a state of denial as she is prone too.........

NEPHEW RAPES AUNT IN MANGO ORCHARD.......

It certainly seems to going from bad to worse for women hailing from Akhilesh Yadav's Uttar Pradesh what with nephews raping their aunts and then broadcasting the news of their so called sexual exploits...........
A 35 year old woman was allegedly raped by her very own nephew in Uttar Pradesh's Unnao district late Saturday night; she duly filed a police complaint against her assaulter who is absconding after having committed the hideous crime at the local police thana (station) on Sunday morning.........
According to the investigating officer, a case has been duly registered against the accused Raj Kumar following his aunt's complaint; according to the complaint the victim was brutally raped in a mango orchard when she had gone to protect the ripening crop from marauders and pests with her nephew for company........
Her husband was busy safeguarding yet another mango orchard in the vicinity and hence was unable to keep his wife of 16 years company on the fateful night; taking undue advantage of the occasion, the accused nephew overpowered and brutally raped his aunt before making good his escape from the crime scene........
The victim was sent for a medical examination at a government hospital on Sunday afternoon and a medical report received by the Unnao police late Monday evening has conclusively established the occurrence of rape........,
One is sick and tired of repeating oneself ad nausuem and saying that the collusion between the ruling dispensation and a police force that is over eager to please it's political lords and benefactors is almost solely responsible for this rather sorry and shoddy state of affairs........
What is even more galling and depressing is the fact that the Union Home Ministry remains a mute spectator to this gory spectacle and has done precious little apart from issuing mundane and cursory warnings to the Akhilesh Yadav government about the rapidly deteriorating law and order situation within the state.........
Is this all the concern that a prime minister with a self confessed "bleeding heart" has for the long suffering women of this glorious nation?????

SOCIALLY SANCTIONED AND ORDAINED DOWRY MENACE CLAIMS IT'S LATEST VICTIM.......

Dowry or rather the insatiable quest to enrich oneself by extracting untold material wealth through the age old practice claimed it's latest victim as a 23 year old woman was beaten to death by her husband and in-laws for committing the cardinal sin of not fulfilling their constant and ever increasing materialistic demands........
This diabolic and inhuman incident was reported from Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich town where the 23 year old victim who had gotten married more than three years ago but only moved into her husband's modest dwelling a little over a year ago after the ritual "gauna" was performed........
Her torture and beatings started the very day she moved in with her husband as her husband and in-laws were obsessed to the point of insanity with the very thought of laying their hands on a motorcycle with her father's hard earned money, but their long cherished and fondly nurtured plans did not bear fruit as the victim's money did not have the wherewithal to fulfil his son-in-law's demand for the same..........
According to the local cops, they received a complaint from one Chinak Lal (victim's father) at around 11 am on Friday morning about his 23 year old daughter Mamta's death at the hands of her husband and in-laws late on Thursday night/early Friday morning as he was simply unable to fulfil their persistent demand for a motorcycle owing to his modest means..........
According to Chinak Lal, his beloved daughter Mamta was duly married off to one Babulal of Azad Nagar a little over three years ago and had duly moved in with her husband and in-laws a year or so ago after the ritual "gauna" ceremony was performed..........
The beatings and torture started soon after as Chinak Lal was unable to fulfil his son-in-law's demand for a swanking new Hero Honda Splendour motor cycle despite promising to fulfil the demand as soon as he was able to raise the cost of the same; matters however came to a head on the fateful late Thursday night when Chinak Lal was duly informed by a neighbour (Azad Nagar resident) that his beloved daughter Mamta's body was hanging from the roof of her dwelling........
Chinak Lal rushed there along with his other family members only to be confronted with the macabre sight of his beloved daughter's Mamta's lifeless body hanging from the roof, what was clearly evident according to Chinak Lal and his other family members was the fact that Mamta had been battered to death as her body bore injury marks all over and then hanged from the ceiling in order to make her untimely death appear as a suicide..........
According to the investigating officer a case of dowry death has since been registered against the absconding Babulal, his father Munnulal and two other absconding persons; Mamta's body has been sent for an autopsy (post mortem) to a local government hospital and the report of the same is awaited so that the cause of death can be conclusively established.........
And so the age old socially sanctioned and ordained menace of dowry claims it's latest unsuspecting and oh so naive and trusting victim.........

30 YEAR OLD UGANDAN WOMAN GANG RAPED IN NATIONAL CAPITAL.........

Well, well ,well; Delhi's males certainly make no distinction with regard to the skin colour, age and nationality of women when it comes to the humanitarian and bestial issue of sexually violating them........
A 30 year old Ugandan woman has alleged in a written complaint that she was gang raped by two men with two men with whom she had a monetary dispute (dispute regarding the repayment of monies owed to her) within the confines of her rented flat in the national capital's Dwarka area late on Friday night..........
According to the victim, the two accused men did not stop with brutally raping her but also made off with her mobile, cash on hand and other valuables as they were fearful about the prospect of the victim filing a police complaint about the incident.........
Local cops who swung into action the very minute they received a written complaint from the victim on Saturday morning firstly registered a case of gang rape under section 376 (G) of the Indian Penal Code in addition to the additional charges of robbery levelled against them; they also proceeded to arrest the two accused from their local hideout on Saturday afternoon and produce them before a judicial magistrate who duly remanded them to judicial custody.........
According to the investigating officer, the victim in her written statement threw light on the fact that she was making her way home and had reached the district centre when her two assailants noticed her and began following her;. they subsequently proceeded to follow her to her flat, forcibly entered the same, subdued her and then took turns in raping her more than once each........
She also said that she did try to put up a spirited resistance, but one of her assailants put her hands around her throat and threatened to strangle her to death if she either tried to struggle or inform any third person about the proceedings in her flat; she further claimed that the two mad off with her mobile phone, all the cash that she had on hand as well as other valuables (jewellery) when she threatened to approach the local police.......
The woman who bravely approached the police despite the dire threats handed out/made by her assailants and even filed a written complaint in which she clearly stated that her assailants had borrowed a few thousand rupees some three months back or so and were now refusing to repay the same when she demanded the same from them; a medical examination carried out on the victim has conclusively established the occurrence of rape.........
In their hackneyed and stereotypical defence, the two assailants who were apprehended from the hideout mentioned by the victim in her written complaint claimed that they did indeed owe the woman the said sum of money but were innocent as far as all the other charges foisted on them were concerned.........
According to the investigating officer, investigations are at an advanced stage and a charge sheet will be duly filed before the concerned judicial magistrate within the next 48-72 hours.........
And thereby hangs a tale of allegation, counter allegation and using sex and machismo as tools to subdue an indomitable woman made of sterner stuff...........

TEN YEAR OLD BLUDGEONED TO DEATH FOR THE MOST INANE REASON..........

Intolerance or rather the inability to tolerate a loved one's idiosyncracies/quirks reached a new height in the national capital with a 30 year old man bludgeoning his ten year old nephew to death for the pettiest of reasons..........
In an incident right out of the annal's of Ripley's "believe it or not" a 30 year old supposedly sane and normal man bludgeoned his ten year old relative to death as he had committed the cardinal sin of switching on the television and watching the same at a "high" volume while he was asleep in an adjoining room in the humble dwelling in the national capital's Nihal Vihar area on Thursday night.........
According to police sources, the accused one Harish Chand had come down to the national capital from his native place in Bihar ostensibly for a medical check up at a government run medical facility and was residing with his relatives in the national capital a little over a week or so ago.......
On the fateful Thursday night, Chand was fast asleep in an adjoining room in the modest dwelling when 10 year old Jairam switched on the television with the express intent of watching a cricket match that was on air at the time.........
For reasons only known to him, the ten (10) year old Jairam kept increasing the volume of the television set despite Harish Chand's dire predilections and paid the price for doing so with his life as Chand caved his head in with a conveniently placed grinding stone and took to his heels as soon as the realisation of what he had done dawned on him.........
Jairam's unsuspecting parents who work as labourers in a factory adjoining their modest abode reached home at around 11 pm or so on the fateful night and were mystified to find the main door to their humble abode locked and secured.......
Surmising that Chand might have taken their son out for a walk, the couple brazened it out for about half an hour or so in the sweltering June heat but soon grow suspicious as repeated calls to Chand's mobile went unanswered; they then gathered their neighbours and broke down the main door only to find their beloved soon lying in a spreading pool of his own blood............
Jariam's flabbergasted father gathered his senseless son in his arms and rushed him to a nearby government hospital where the doctors attending on him pronounced him brought dead on arrival; the on duty doctors informed the cops and the cops soon arrived on the scene, cordoned off the crime scene and sent Jairam's body for the customary autopsy (post mortem)...........
A lookout notice has since been circulated to all the police stations in the national capital as well as adjoining states/areas and the concerned police personnel are extremely optimistic about their chances of nabbing the wanted Harish Chand at the earliest..........
One really wonders whether a precious and budding human life that had yet to bloom and experience the many splendours that the whole wide world has to offer ought to have been snuffed out in the manner in which it was...........

REVIEW OF "HUMSHAKALS"..........

Almost entirely based in the sylvan and picturesque locales of London, Humshakals is yet another Sajid Khan so called slapstick comedy gone horribly wrong.......
All about the loony and juvenile antics of three men Ashok (Saif Ali Khan), Kumar (Riteish Deshmukh) and the evil and conniving Mamaji (Ram Kapoor) and the prevalent confusion thanks to their look alikes or "Humshakals", do venture out and watch this one only if you've got a death wish or than are a glutton for torture and punishment..........
In my humble opinion all the criticism and brickbats being hurled at the film do it little or no credit; Saif Ali Khan is on record saying that he couldn't have done this film a decade or so ago as he would have been unable to carry it off; sorry to say Saif that you still can't carry it off and should have never have done this utterly banal and meaningless role in the first place..........
Riteish Deshmukh and Ram Kapoor (strictly in that order) do strive to rise above the non existent script and screenplay and provide some semblance of sanity and credibility to the on screen cacophony, bedlam and mayhem; but alas!!!!! the two of them too soon run out of steam and throw their hands up in sheer frustration..........
Sajid Khan seems to have learnt precious little from the debacle or then complete no show of his previous directorial venture "Himmatwala" at the box office or turnstiles; the so called humour and gags are just as puerile, amateurish, offensive and begin to get your goat and cause the king of all headaches after some time rather than making you guffaw and roll in the aisles as they were meant too.........
The less said about the three leading ladies (Bipasha Basu, Esha Gupta and Tamannah Bhatia) the better; as they are barely there on screen and register their nubile and nymph like presences on screen in this all male mental asylum; one remembers Esha saying something to the effect that her mother is an unabashed Ram Kapoor fan and that was one of the main reasons behind her doing the film; well Esha I hate to tell you that even your mother dearest must be cringing in horror at this one; Ram Kapoor's noteworthy presence notwithstanding..........
Beginning with a tribute to and paying tributes to noteworthy comic talents like the immortal Kishore Kumar, Peter Sellers, and last but not the least Jim Carrey; "Humshakals" ends up being nothing more than a sheer affront to their proven talents and an insult to their exalted and cherished comic antics..........
RATING: 1/5 (purely due  the sterling and creditworthy efforts of Riteish Deshmukh and Ram Kapoor); one ardently wishes that Messrs Saif Ali Khan and Sajid Khan would hang up their boots after this one and do the paying and long suffering audience a tender mercy...........

PRESENT DAY MANIFESTATION OF ETERNAL LOVE.........

Life partners Premlata and Shanti Lal Jain were heading home to Guwahati in a nondescript flight on Thursday when they breathed their last within minutes of each other within the claustrophobic confines of the same........
Premlata 65, suffered a massive cardiac arrest some twenty odd minutes into the flight and succumbed to the same before any kind of medical aid could be rendered; Shanti Lal Jain who saw the love of his life breathe her last in his arms was so shocked by her abrupt demise that he collapsed in a heap never to wake up again..........
Originally hailing from Churu in Rajasthan, the above mentioned couple were long time residents of Guwahati and were returning to Guwahati from Delhi with a couple of residents in tow on Spice Jet flight SG 893 from Delhi to Guwahati which took off from the Indira Gandhi International Airport at 3:15 pm or so on the fateful Thursday afternoon..........
Some twenty odd minutes into the flight, Premlata complained of persistent and unbearable chest pains and soon fell into a swoon on account of the same; confronted with an on board emergency, the pilot proceeded to inform the Delhi Air Traffic Control which accorded them the due permission to land in Delhi post haste........
Premlata was rushed to a nearby corporate hospital within minutes of her flight touching down at the IGI airport at around 3:45 pm or so, but the doctors attending on her pronounced her brought dead on arrival........
Shanti Lal Jain who deigned it prudent to remain within the airport terminal until he received some news about his beloved wife's medical condition collapsed as soon as the news of the love of his life's demise reached his ears and was pronounced dead on arrival at the very same hospital to which his Mehbooba was taken minutes earlier..........

To add insult to injury, this sozzled 21 year old accused was soundly thrashed in full public view by his irate and frazzled mother before she summoned the local cops and handed over her son to them for his just desserts..........
According to the neighbours, there was an impromptu power cut late on Wednesday night after the neighbourhood has retired to bed for the night and the mother who was unable to bear the copious and draining heat deemed it fit to go up to the terrace of their humble abode in order to ward off the bracing heat as well as grab some welcome sleep in slightly more salubrious weather conditions...........
Taking undue advantage of the fact that he was alone in the room with his class XI going 16 year old sister, this 21 year old man who knew no better surreptitiously made his way to his fast asleep sister's bed and proceeded to undress her........
Coming awake with a start and more than wary of her elder brother's unholy and demonic intentions, the doughty 16 year old firstly tried to ward of his unwelcome advances by herself and then took to calling for help at the top of her voice; her mother made her way to the said spot as soon as her daughter's plaintive cries for help reached her ears and set upon her errant son with all her long suppressed rage as soon as she saw what he was up to.............
She then proceeded to drag her son down to the street in front of their house and beat him black and blue before summoning the cops from the adjoining police station and handing her accused son over to them so that he could face the music for the crimes committed by him..........

In her written complaint filed before the SHO late on Tuesday evening, the victim claimed that she was cheated and continually raped by her own brothers Sudhirsingh Bhuvaji and Kaniya Bhuvaji over a period exceeding a little over six months.......
She further alleged that the two brothers performed some kind of "black magic" rituals on her in conjunction with a practitioner of this "bizarre" art sometime during the month of October 2013 and summoned her to their home and raped her on multiple occasions as long as she was under the spell till May 20. 2014.........
In addition to her two brothers, the victim has also named her younger sister Baby and alleged that Baby was a more than willing accomplice in their carnal and unnatural incestuous acts and did more than her bit in subduing her and fulfilling her two brothers every grotesque desire........
Citing the presence of a constant voice in her head that was constantly goading her to comply with every direction issued by her conniving brothers, the victim in her written complaint claimed that her brothers had managed to extort a sum in excess of Rupees two lakhs and gold jewellery worth the same amount during the six month period mentioned by her.......
Taking due cognisance of her written complaint, the Khokhra police have launched preliminary investigations into the same that have conclusively established the fact that the woman complainant was indeed duped and cheated by her very own brothers who somehow managed to convince her into believing the convoluted and hedonisitc fact that sexual intimacy between them and her would benefit her materialistically beyond the realms of her imagination and guarantee her the prosperity and riches that she had always sought.......
In the meanwhile, the accused duo have taken to their heels and are suspected to be hiding in a nondescript place somewhere in Western Uttar Pradesh, the Khokhra police has managed to trace their whereabouts by tracing their mobile conversations and will be despatching two teams to their location on Thursday to arrest them and make them face the music.........

WOMAN EMPLOYEE MOVES DELHI COURT SEEKING IMPLEMENTATION OF VISHAKHA GUIDELINES AT WORKPLACE.....

In a first of it's kind, an Indian woman staffer gainfully employed with the Sri Lankan Airlines moved the Delhi High Court on Wednesday seeking the strict and timely implementation of the Vishakha guidelines pertaining to cases or instances of sexual harassment within the workplace........
A vacation bench of justices Siddharth Mridul and Sunita Gupta before whom the matter was mentioned, took due cognisance of the same and posted the case for hearing on Friday June 20,2014........
The aggrieved woman who is currently employed with the Sri Lankan Airlines as a sales executive petitioned the Delhi High Court as her employers had failed to initiate any kind of punitive or other action against a fellow employee against whom the victim had filed a sexual harassment case way back in the year 2009........
In her petition, the victim impleaded the designated court to issue directions to the concerned ministries; namely the civil aviation and women and child development ministry to take due cognisance of her petition and file cases against her employers for their abject failure to implement the above mentioned guidelines within their working environment........the same petition also implores the government to issue requisite and necessary directions about the time bound implementation of the Vishakha guidelines as well as provisions of the sexual harassment at workplace act in all airline offices within India........
One may do well to recall the fact that acts of sexual harassment within the workplace had hit the headlines and occupied considerable media space following the Tarun Tejpal imbroglio in the sunny and sylvan climes of Goa; the Vishakha guidelines and their impartial implementation had become the subject of many a television studio debate before the euphoria dissipated and the same was reduced to a muted whimper........

TWO UNIDENTIFIED YOUTHS FIRE AT SCHOOL PRINCIPAL IN BROAD DAYLIGHT.........

Lawlessness seems to have hit an all time high in the national capital what with two teenagers firing upon a public school principal in broad daylight.........
Two as yet unidentified youths deigned to enter a public school at around 10 am or so on Tuesday morning while the class XII examinations were underway and then proceeded to fire a couple of rounds on the school's principal from a revolver brandished by one of them and all this while they were exhorting the principal to mend his said ways all the time........
Thanks to the almighty and his presence of mind, the said principal managed to escape with life and limb intact as he threw himself to the ground the very second he saw the revolver pointed in his direction; local cops suspect this murderous incident to be the handiwork of a student belonging to the said school.......
Efforts are on to establish the identities of the attackers as well as verify their antecedents by minutely scrutinising the CCTV footage obtained from the various cameras strategically placed at various locations within the school premises..........
According to a senior police official, the entire firing episode was captured on the CCTV cameras and we are waiting for a forensics lab to sufficiently clear up the grainy footage so that we can get a clear look at the visages of the two youths who dared to fire at the principal in broad daylight.......
In an effort to downplay the incident as well as douse the flames of indignity and danger lit by this incident; the cops investigating the incident have claimed that fake bullets were fired at the principal even though they have sent the said bullets for forensic examination as well as registered an attempt to murder case against the two absconding youths at the capital city's Narela Police Station..........
According to fellow teachers and eyewitnesses, R.P. Tyagi (school principal) was on one of his customary rounds around the school while the class XII examinations were being conducted when a staff member accosted him and apprised him about the development regarding the entry of the two youths into the school premises.........
Mr. Tyagi in turn requested one of his fellow teachers to trace the two youths and find out what they were up to; when the two youths who noticed the principal engaged him in a conversation and tried to extract information regarding the school's admission processes and all this while one of them brandished/whipped out a revolver and fired a couple of rounds at Tyagi.........
Revolvers in school premises; whatever's next, schools used to be hallowed and venerated institutions of learning in my age; one wonders what they have become now..........

BAND OF ROBBERS LOOTS AND INJURES FAMILY OF THREE ON MUMBAI-PUNE EXPRESSWAY...........

Travel on the famed Mumbai-Pune expressway either late or night or early at morning with due diligence and care or else you might just find yourselves at the receiving end of a band of "highway robbers" who have taken to looting motorists who make a pit stop for refreshments in their bid to make a fast buck..........
In an incident that is sure to make many a night time traveller on the above mentioned expressway change his already charted out plans as well as send more than a shiver or two down the spines of the rest, a family of three hailing from Pune's Kharadi area had the most horrific and traumatic experience of their lives while on their way from Mumbai to Pune at around 2 am or so in the wee hours of Monday morning.........
Highway robbers who have taken to the highway with a vengeance of late; dragged the mother and daughter out of the car in which they were safely and securely (????) stationed and proceeded to mercilessly beat them with iron rods and lathis before making good their escape from the spot with all the family's valuables in tow........
All this happened in a matter of mere minutes while the husband as well as driver of the car had stopped the car in the vicinity of a bustling petrol pump and made his way to the other side of the highway in order to fetch bottles of water and cups of coffee for his better half and daughter.........
Amit Mali, 41, his better half Resha Mali, 34, and daughter Vedika Mali, 12, were poorer to the tune of Rupees 1.25 lakh (in various foreign currencies) as well as jewellery, watches, mobile phones and other valuables thanks to a a marauding band of robbers who inflicted bleeding injuries on Resha's forehead and face as well as Vedika's hands and fingers when she tried to rescue her semi-conscious mother from their clutches...........

According to Amit, he decided to make a pit stop at one of the petrol pumps that abound the expressway and had just made his way to the other side of the expressway in order to fetch bottles of water and some coffee for all of them while leaving the motor/engine idling so that the car's AC would keep cooling his family members when he heard his wife and daughter shouting for help at the top of their voices........
" A group/band of around four men or so had surrounded our car and ordered Resha to roll down the windows; they then proceeded to break down both the front and back windshields of the car when Resha refused to comply with their orders, pulled her out by her hair and then proceeded to assault her on her head, forehead and face with iron rods and lathis".......;

Somehow Amit managed to start his vehicle and make a beeline towards the nearest police station but had to stop midway on account of a minor accident; the cops who were already at the accident site took one look at the injured mother and daughter and promptly summoned a 108 ambulance that rushed the injured victims to a government medical facility in the neighbouring Kamshet area where their injuries were attended too...........
The Mali's then proceeded to register a written complaint with the Kamshet cops and efforts are on to trace the whereabouts of the band of robbers who looted the Mali family toi the tune of around two lakh rupees; according to a senior police official, numerous minor incidents of robbery have been reported from the very same spot in the past, but this is the first incident of this magnitude and severity........
Patrolling will henceforth be intensified at these and other sensitive or trouble prone spots and the number of police personnel deployed on night duty will also be significantly increased in order to ensure that there is no repetition of such incidents.......
Well, the police personnel might well do their work, but travellers need to take necessary precautions too, only stop at well lit and conspicuously populated spots when necessary and immediately summon a PCR/mobile police patrol to the spot in case of a breakdown.........

YOUNG WOMAN BOOKED ON CHARGES OF SENDING OUT OBSCENE FACEBOOK POSTS.......

One has heard of numerous instances of rejected suitors and jilted lovers sending obscene SMSes and facebook posts to their lost loves and supposed life partners, but a young woman sending out such messages to another must surely rank as a first ever.......
A Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh) based young woman or then should I say girl was booked by the Cyber Crime Branch of the Bareilly Police on the alleged charges of sending out seemingly obscene and highly objectionable posts to a close female relative from a fake facebook profile expressly created by her for the very same purpose.......
According to the investigating officer, the daughter of a prominent local school principal had been receiving offensive and objectionable messages and posts on her official facebook profile for the last ten-twelve days or so; deeply perturbed and disturbed by these posts, she duly informed her parents about the same and they in turn lodged or filed a complaint about the same with the local Cyber Cell........
Once they received the official complaint cyber cell sleuths got cracking and within a matter of three hours or so managed to track down the IP address of the computer from which these messages were being sent to the young lady's computer with growing regularity........
A team of cops were sent to the above mentioned address and they managed to lay their hands on a close female relative of the victim who broke down under sustained interrogation and admitted to sending these offensive messages and posts to her cousin for reasons that are still being ascertained,,,,,,,,
The offender has since been taken into police custody (since Sunday afternoon) and cases under all applicable sections of the IT act have been registered against her; she is also being questioned in order to ascertain her motives and reasons for sending out these scores of messages to a close relative, friend and confidante........
