Minors or then should I say girls in their teens certainly seem to be at the receiving end of rapacious men's criminal tendencies if this horrifying incident is any yardstick/parameter to go by........
In the latest instance of a minor being brutally and savagely sexually assaulted a 15 year old girl resident of Ludhiana's (Punjab State) Rania village by two of her marauding neighbours on the fateful afternoon of Sunday April 10; 2016........
According to the doughty survivor's mother; she was initially taken aback and then shocked beyond belief when she heard her daughter repeatedly screaming for help and simultaneously pleading for mercy.........
"The shrieks/screams seemed to be emanating from a room adjoining our modest and nondescript government allotted residential quarters and I rushed there guided by the sound of my beloved daughters piteous cries only to be confronted by the ghastly sight of one Ravi sexually ravaging my nubile daughter"..........
" I immediately raised an alarm and began screaming for help when both my daughter's assaulters; the afore mentioned Ravi and his comrade in arms one Manish rushed out of the said room pushing me to the floor in their attempt to make good their escape from the crime scene"..........
"Keeping my wits about me; I immediately rushed to my daughter's help; got rid of her torn and tattered vestments; dressed her in new clothes and somehow or the other managed to vend my way to the neighbouring police station where I filed a complaint against the accused duo who happen to be casual labourers by profession; naming; shaming and accusing them of committing a hellacious and satanic act against my 15 year old daughter who knew no better".........
Lo and behold; the area police swung into action and duly recorded the rape survivor's statement in which she candidly and haltingly admitted that the accused duo managed to lure her into an empty room adjoining the quarter in which she resided along with her mother (the girl's father had passed away a good eight or so years ago) on the pretext of showing her the latest Punjabi blockbuster on their 40 inch full HD television and then proceeded to force themselves upon her and have their way with her........
She was admitted to the city's government hospital by the very same sleuths where the doctors attending upon her confirmed the occurrence of the alleged sexual crime beyond all reasonable doubt and duly registered cases against the accused duo under section 376D of the Indian Penal Code (Gangrape) as well as section 4 of the POCSO Act as the victim happens to be a minor..........
A massive manhunt has since been launched in Ludhiana as well as the adjoining cities/districts in order to apprehend the two accused at the earliest and three police teams have been expressly constituted for this very purpose.........
One only wonders when this unending or unceasing horror will end and when the Indian male will forsake this reprehensible and regressive mindset of rape being the chosen way and means of proving both his so called masculinity; virility as well as his deemed superiority over the supposedly weaker sex.........
