A wannabe chain snatcher learnt this the hard way in Mumbai's Kandivali east area on Sunday evening when he tried to snatch the chain adorning the shapely neck of a doughty and indomitable 48 year old woman who caught hold of his jacket and pulled him off the motorcycle on which he was riding pillion just after he had made a furtive attempt to snatch her chain...........
Two alert and conscientious traffic police constables who happened upon the spot on hearing her cries for help then chased the wannabe chain snatcher who had abruptly been pulled out of the bike and successfully managed to nab him before handing him over to their colleagues at the Samta Nagar police station who in turn booked/registered a robbery case against the assailant and launched a manhunt for his comrade in arms......
According to eyewitnesses; the complainant/doughty woman Sunita Suvarna had just alighted from a luxury car with two other woman friends on the north bound stretch and was making her way down the road when the motorcycle borne chain snatchers arrived on the scene and proceeded to pull of the voluminous chain adorning Suvarna's dainty neck..........
Though initially startled and taken aback; the doughty Suvarna showed both the pluck and courage of mind to hang onto the jacket borne arm of the pillion rider who has since been identified as 32 year old Aziz Jaffer Sayyad and managed to pull him off the back with a hearty tug.......
She immediately raised a commotion and the two traffic police constables who arrived on the scene on hearing her cries for help chased Aziz who was trying to make good his escape from the scene on foot and successfully nabbed him after pursuing him for a good 400 metres or so..........
Sayyad who is a resident of Mumbai's Amboli area has since been remanded to police custody till January 2;2015 by a judicial magistrate and the arresting authorities are trying to verify whether he was involved in similar attempts/instances in the past besides making all out efforts to nab his accomplice who is still at large..........
