DOWN BUT NOT OUT..........

Two batsmen both struck down by ferocious bouncers; while one emerged relatively unscathed with nothing more than a fractured cheekbone; the other Australian batsman Phillip Hughes succumbed to the injury sustained by him during the course of a domestic Sheffield Shield game.......
Pakistani opener Ajmal Shehzad who was felled by a Corey Anderson bouncer during the course of the second test match of a recently concluded three test match series between the Pakistanis and Kiwis sustained superficial facial injuries and a fractured cheekbone as a result and the dapper opener who has since recovered and is back in his assigned role has been thanking the almighty that he escaped relatively unscathed..........
Recounting the friendship struck with Phillip Hughes during the course of the 2007-08 under 19 Cricket World Cup; Shehzad said that he was chastened by Hughes untimely and abrupt demise and has been thanking the almighty for the blessings showered on him ever since........
I was lucky that I was struck on the cheekbone and nose area while my mate Hughes was struck on the extremely sensitive and vulnerable area between the neck and the head; another inch here or there and I could have been laid low for the best part of a calendar year and even more according to the doctor who treated my fractured cheekbone..........
Shehzad was quoted in a leading Pakistani sports magazine saying that none other than him was in a better position to understand what the Hughes family was going through as he and his family had gone through a similar though not equally heart rending experience and were much more chastened and wizened after the same...........
I have begun to value the second lease of life bestowed on me by the almighty Allah and have realised that it is up to me to make the best use of the opportunities and blessings accorded to me; I was a brash; headstrong; argumentative and cocky young man earlier and though I remain cocky and supremely confident; I have shed my brashness and short temperedness and become that much more patient and accepting.............
Eagerly awaiting the moment when he will don the Pakistan colours once again after his recuperation and rehabilitation; Shehzad is now doubly determined to shine in the 2015 World Cup and make it his very own........
