Our unholy and inhuman racist tendencies certainly seem to be coming to the fore on one pretext or the other.........
In the latest such attack with racist/racial undertones; three men of African origin were beaten within an inch of their lives by a group of brutes in the vicinity of the centrally located Rajiv Chowk Metro Station (New Delhi) late on Monday evening.........
If a you tube video about the incident which went viral within a few hours is any parameter or yardstick to go by; the situation got out of hand when rumours and innuendos started floating around about these African men mercilessly eve teasing a group of young women frequenting the metro station........
Lo and behold! a gaggle of infuriated avenging angels or goons soon gathered at the hot spot and decided to teach the African men a lesson that they would never forget; taking undue advantage of their far superior numbers these ruffians began raining blows on the African men with belts, shoes, iron rods and last but not the least slivers and shards of glass gathered from bottles expressly shattered for the purpose........
In fact, so ferocious, merciless and vociferous was the unprovoked attack (after all unfounded and yet to be proved rumours started the riot) that one of the African men (victims) suffered grievous injuries on his back and abdomen and had to be rushed to a nearby corporate hospital by good samaritans as soon as the crowd frenzy dissipated somewhat; the other two victims were slightly more fortunate and escaped with injuries and abrasions that did not lead to their hospitalisation..........
This latest racist attack captured in all it's gory splendour by a bystander who knew no better soon made it's way to you tube and the video posted on the site shows one of the African men frantically climb atop a "May I Help You police kiosk" in a frantic effort to save his skin; but his valiant effort bears little fruit as he is soon pulled down from his perch by four or five crazed men and set upon with renewed ferocity........
What is however not clear in the you tube video are the two most important or significant facets about whether or not the rumours that were circulated about the African men eve teasing this conglomeration of women were based on any tangible facts and whether the cops stationed nearby came to their aid and assistance when they required the same.........
