Coimbatore police sources on Wednesday evening confirmed the inalienable fact that they had arrested the three main accused: M.Anburaj (43), K.Soundara Pandi (36) and R. Muthupandi (25) on the grave, sinister and demonic charges of cold bloodedly, callously and disdainfully murdering a 52 year old partially paralysed man by slitting his throat in a Coimbatore locality late on Friday morning.........
According to the investigating officer; the deceased (victim) Udhayakumar and main accused Anbhuraj were business partners in flourishing real estate firm until Udhayakumar was almost totally paralysed on his right side a little over seven years ago........
Despite the rather congenial and convivial parting of ways; Anbhuraj always harboured the underlying suspicion about Udhayakumar having sold off a couple of jointly owned properties without his knowledge and consent and thereby enriching himself in the bargain...........
Alas, Anbhuraj's deep rooted sense of suspicion ultimately got the better of him despite the intervening seven year period and on the fateful Friday morning; and he proceeded to demonically slit his one time business partner's throat with the active connivance and aid of his two male accomplices and comrades in arms..........
What was even more galling was the fact that Anbhuraj and his two accomplices even for a moment recognised or acknowledged the fact that their victim was paralysed/bedridden and totally incapable of defending himself as a result of his debilitating disability..........
The murder came to light on Friday afternoon when the two physiotherapists who came to give Udhayakumar his tri-weekly therapeutic oil massage only to find themselves left high and dry as no one responded to their frenzied knocks on the door as well as repeated entreaties to open the door forthwith..........
Confused, bewildered, irate and at their tether's end; the two physiotherapists rung up the deceased's wife Gowri who ran a beauty parlour in Coimbatore's Vadavalli locality to make ends meet and brought to her notice the startling fact that no one within the house was responding to their frenzied summons..........
Though taken aback by the physiotherapists pleas; Gowri did have the presence of mind to request her neighbours to open the door with the keys lying with them and check up on Udhayakumar's whereabouts; responding to her plaintive entreaties the neighbours forced open the door and rushed inside only to be confronted with the gruesome sight of a grievously injured Udhayakumar lying on his bed within a rapidly spreading pool of his own blood...........
Overcoming their fear and revulsion; the neighbours and two physiotherapists bundled Udhayakumar into a car and rushed him to the nearby Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) where the doctors who attended on him declared him brought dead on arrival.........
Keeping in mind their legal duties; the doctors informed the local police sleuths who rushed to the murder spot with a fingerprinting squad as well as sniffer dogs in an effort to identify and ensnare the culprits/murderers at the earliest..........
Due diligence and meticulous attention to detail indeed paid off for the team of investigators as the fingerprinting team managed to lift the prints of two of the accused from the crime scene and the sniffer dogs led them to the abode of the third murder accused from where the police managed to unearth a bloodied shirt that only served to reinforce their case against the accused.............
One of the accused persons was arrested on Sunday and his arrest led to the arrest of the other two absconders in the early hours of Wednesday morning; a case of murder has been filed against the three accused under section 302 of the IPC and the three accused persons who have since been remanded to 13 days of judicial custody must surely be contemplating the ultimate result of a moment of insanity that has ruined their lives once and for all............
