Sample this as an appetiser; Bhagalpur police on Wednesday morning recovered the almost totally charred body of one Chandan Choudhary from the vicinity of a prominent temple; what was even more startling was the fact that the badly charred body was securely bound to the victim's motorcycle.........
According to his sorrowing and disbelieving family members Choudhary had just been appointed in a clerical position in the state's electricity board on compassionate grounds following the death of his father and was to take up his new assignment on Saturday.........
As a celebratory gesture; Choudhary had a gala dinner with his spouse Priti Devi and two young children and the family had just about finished with the same when Choudhary was summoned for an "important discussion" by one Nakul Yadav on the fateful night (Tuesday night)........
Taking Yadav at face value; Choudhary started his motorcycle and left the house on his motorcycle with the absconding Yadav sitting behind him never to be seen again; municipality sweepers found the badly charred body early on Wednesday morning and duly informed the local cops about the location of the same.........
According to the investigating officer; preliminary investigations into the sordid episode seem to point at the fact that the victim (Choudhary) was firstly pommelled into unconsciousness by his assailants; subsequently tied to his motorcycle and then set on fire while firmly secured to his trusted motorcycle...........
Empty liquor bottles found at the murder site also seem to allude to or point at the fact that copious amounts of liquor was consumed by both the accused as well as his murderers just before Choudhary's life was snuffed out in this barbaric manner..........
Further investigations into the matter have also thrown up the fact that a long standing property dispute between the victim and the absconding accused might have been at the heart of the matter and further investigations into the matter are being carried out on the basis of the victim's mobile call records as well as the names furnished by the victim's inconsolable and grieving wife.........
