YET ANOTHER FREAKISH INJURY.........

I for one cannot even begin to fathom why present day cricketers keep suffering fatal or then near fatal injuries on various parts of their heads/skulls despite all the protective equipment going around.........
In the latest such incident involving a player sustaining a freakish and life threatening/altering head injury Australia's 36 year old middle order lynchpin Adam Voges found himself at the receiving end of the latest such unpleasant incident.......
Voges who has led English county side Middlesex with increasingly rare cricketing acumen and aplomb found himself at the receiving end of a throw from the outfield by substitute fielder Ollie Rayner as his county team's so called specialist keeper John Simpson failed to perform his allocated duty with due diligence and let a nondescript return from the deep slip through his gloves..........
As the on field umpire had made the customary signal signifying the end of the over as soon as the ball reached Simpson a seemingly defenceless Voges found the same red cherry squarely plonking him at the back of his head (a little under the band of his county cap) as he had just turned his back on the on field proceedings and began sauntering towards the other end of the pitch from his favoured gully/short point position when the projectile literally brought him to his knees on a fateful May 1 British afternoon..........
The two physios on duty at the time (both the Middlesex as well the opposing team's physio) rushed to Voges aid in the batting of an eyelid as he had collapsed in an unceremonious heap on the field and successfully managed to resuscitate him to the extent that the duo could lead him off the field though he was seemingly incoherent and grimacing in considerable pain at the time.........
Deeply concerned about his safety and sanity the doctor duo accompanied the Middlesex captain to the nearest medical facility where a succession of scans performed on his entire head and neck region revealed nothing more threatening than severe concussion and a rapidly growing swelling on the area where the red cherry struck him at the back of his head.........
According to the Middlesex physio; the severe concussion and period/spell of incoherence suffered by Voges was a definite cause for concern as a complete recovery could take the best part of a week to ten days though the silver lining was that the said injury was a lot less serious and life threatening than it was originally thought to be.........
Team Director; former English medium pacer Angus Fraser succinctly remarked that Voges condition was closely being monitored on a daily basis and that he would only take the field when the specialists attending on him had given him a clean bill of health and ruled out any other long term or other ramifications of the freakish injury sustained by him on May 1;2016........
Here's wishing the gritty and hard as nails Aussie a speedy and complete recovery as the Australian test team certainly needs his reassuring presence at the crease and the modicum of solidity and stability that he provides to a seemingly fragile and brittle Australian middle order..........
