"GAY" YEH RISHTA KYA KEHLATA HAI............

Here is one really "hatke" and path breaking flick that might have otherwise slipped under the radar what with potential blockbuster "Housefull 3" ruling the roost........
The much anticipated and over hyped "Housefull 3" is not the only offering from the Hindi film industry this Friday; a thought provoking and potentially controversial/combustible "Gay Yeh Rishtaa Kya Kehlata Hai" also makes it's debut on a few you tube channels......
This short film which has it's heart in the right place and makes a sterling and laudatory effort towards getting "gay and same sex" marriages in a disparaging and conservative Indian society has Indian televisions favourite "sanskari Babuji" veteran actor Alok Nath and his "Yeh Riishta Kya Kehlata Hai" co star Amal Sehrawat in stellar roles........
According to Sehrawat who is best known for his role as "Sangram Singh" in this much favoured daily soap he essays the role of Vimlesh; a young man who shows both the temerity and daring to take on a medieval and archaic social set up by entering into holy matrimony with his partner who also belongs to the same sex while Alok Nath dons the hat of a "progressive" father-in-law who unconditionally and gallantly accepts his son's inclinations and somewhat "eccentric" decisions pertaining to his choice of life partner without a whimper or the stereotyped rigmarole about "khandaan ki izzat" and such other related matters.........
On being queried about the possible backlash and virulent negative campaign that may be carried out against them by self styled and appointed "guardians" of our so called enlightened and progressive Indian society; the indomitable and irrepressible duo pithily comment that they are more than mentally prepared to face the consequences of their career related choices and say that any form of protest or implied threat of retribution will not deter them from doing their bit towards enlightening and educating a conservative and hypocritical social milieu about the urgent and immediate need to accept people and their sexual preferences/inclinations/ choices as they are instead of getting judgemental and volcanic over the same.........
Here's more power to their elbow; I for one say at the top of my voice and ardently hope and pray that other actors of repute show similar appreciable courage and candour towards doing their bit to rid our nation of age old stereotypes.........
