NAVIN PATNAIK ARE YOU LISTENING.........

Is this the price that Odishans have to pay for reposing their trust and faith in a thoroughly undeserving Navin Patnaik time and again........
Despite enduring Navin Basu's lofty promises and empty pronouncements for a decade and more an extremely poor and impoverished tribal man had to part ways with the love of his life (his two month old son) so that he could buy a few medicines that would help his ailing wife regain her health and senses.........
Stop disbelieving your eyes; cause you did certainly read it right in the first instance; this hapless father had to sell of his infant son for a paltry sum of Rs. 700 to a neighbouring childless family as he needed the sum acquired through this heart stopping transaction to alleviate the sufferings and pain of his afflicted wife.........
According to state government officials who probed this pitiful incident from every conceivable angle; Sukura Mududli and his better half Dhumusi Muduli lifelong residents of Chittapalli-2 village of the Korkunda BLock had parted ways with their beloved son mid way through the month of February 2015 and siphoned him off for the afore mentioned sum to a social health worker/activist of the adjoining Chittapalli-3 village in the same block.........
The very same probe/investigation also threw light on the lamentable fact that the couple in question had not been covered under any of the poverty alleviation schemes and programmes run by both the state as well as central governments like the BPL or Indira Awas Yojana........
Pleading his case/deposing before the Child Welfare Committee President one Sanjukta Pradhan Sukura Muduli tearfully narrated that he was left with no other option other than selling/bartering off his infant son for the afore mentioned Rs. 700 and 50 kgs of rice to the said woman as he had been without work for the last three and a bit months and therefore unable to purchase the medicines required to cure his ailing wife.........
Waking up from their self imposed slumber; the areas government officials have at last come to their senses and begun the long overdue efforts to provide the impoverished couple with a humble dwelling under the auspices of the Indira Awas Yojana as well as provide them with succour; aid and employment under the BPL; MGNREGA and other such schemes which were in operation in this district..........
Media attention and concerns seems to have gotten this hapless couple their constitutionally mandated and ordained rights and they are more than optimistic about their chances about repossessing their infant son from the lady to whom he was sold off in the very near future; but it is well nigh impossible for the media to highlight any and every such case that proliferates every nook and cranny of such backward and impoverished corners of Mother India.........
A timely; concerted; pain staking and well researched effort on the part of the comatose and seemingly indifferent Navin Patnaik government is the crying need of the hour; will such an effort be initiated in the near/immediate future or then will nocturnal and age old habits and tendencies continue to rule the roost; well your guess on this one is as good or bad as mine...........
