Immortal singer/croonster Kundan Lal Saigal's die hard fan paid him an unique tribute by raising an edifice that will be exclusively used for the dissemination and distribution of music throught musical concerts that will be held at regular intervals under this very roof.......
77 year old renowned singer Shridhar Ranade who is more than a name/force to reckon with in Pune's musical circles/circuit paid his legendary guru a rare and well deserved honour by raising and dedicating the 1,600 square foot Kundan Lal Saigal Memorial Hall to the everlasting memory of his revered and respected Guruji on the occasion of his 111th birth anniversary on Friday..........
Speaking on the occasion a thoroughly overwhelmed and emotional Ranade said that he had been making his living by crooning Saigal's iconoclastic songs for the last forty years and more and the fawning public had also showered it's unbounded love and affection on him as his voice bore an uncanny and remarkable similarity to that of his idol.........
Bemoaning the fact that most if not all government run and private auditoriums in Pune city charged as much as Rs.15-20,000/- for a three hour long music concert Ranade readily revealed the fact that such exorbitant rentals were way beyond the means of modest artistes like him and hence he had decided to redeem this unsavoury situation all on his very own........
Setting aside 85-90% of the funds generated through every musical concert or rendition rendered by him over the last 8 years and more Ranade literally raised this edifice from the ground brick by veritable brick and Friday morning saw the culmination of his life's dream/mission.........
I am also and artiste though not as famous and renowned as my beloved Guruji and therefore well acquainted with the fact that a significant majority of budding and struggling artistes who want to prove their mettle and make a name for themselves on the musical firmament are held back by the fact that they are unable to afford the outlandish charges demanded and extorted by these afore mentioned auditoriums..........
Hence; the raising and dedication of this auditorium that will only charge between Rs. 2,000-Rs. 2,500/- for a three hour long musical concert/rendition thereby according the much desired wings to every budding/aspiring singer's dreams; hopes and aspirations.........
Strategically located near his modest dwelling in Pune's Shastrinagar locality; this modest auditorium is equipped with more than adequate toilet facilities; dressing and changing rooms and all the other design acoustics required to facilitate the smooth and melodious progression of a music concert/rendition..........
The Kundan Lal Saigal Memorial Hall/Auditorium will resonate with Ranade's sonorous and age defying voice on the evening of April 12,2015 thereby ushering in an era of hope and achievement in the life and times of every budding singer who not only wants to emulate their musical idols but also try and achieve the exalted status that they did in their lifetimes............
