Here are a few pointers to various women right related organisations on matters of importance and issues that they should be raising in order to remain relevant, focussed and solvent.........
> firstly, please realise the fact that "united we stand, divided we fall", so do come together on one common platform instead of raising discordant and disjointed voices on the same issue, numbers do matter in this war and the government and forces that be only listen to a coherent mass not an incoherent babble.........
> candle light vigils and protest marches might certainly galvanise a few eyeballs and get you a pithy acknowledgement from the local media, but, is certainly not the way forward, the way forward lies in creating awareness and realisation about this highly emotive and sensitive issue that afflicts all of us, so have public rallies, galvanise support for your movement in schools and colleges, raise awareness about this issue at street corners by roping in the services of street theatre groups in this noble venture and last but not the least carry out an area wise distribution of pamphlets pertaining to this cause through local newspaper vendors/distributors............
> go down to the grass root level and start a gender sensitisation campaign from the class seven level upwards as children enter their teens at that stage and certainly need to be enlightened about the needs and concerns of both sexes.......
> charity begins at home so do talk to your children about the birds and the bees in a comprehensive and easy to understand manner, teach them how to distinguish between an appropriate and inappropriate touch and last but not the least how to differentiate between a wannabe rapist or assailant and a passer by/innocent bystander...........
> teach every woman irrespective of age the rudimentary principles or then basics of self defence and educate them about the need for carrying chilli powder/pepper sprays /nail cutters or then finely honed files/sharpened pencils and other such self defence paraphernalia with them.........
> Initiate the process of drafting a comprehensive memorandum of demands related to safety,security and other gender related matters pertaining to the fairer sex, the services of experts in this field can be drafted and galvanise the support of at least a lakh concerned Hyderabadis by getting them to append their signatures on the same at malls, theatres, shopping centres and other such public places..........
> Sit down with legal experts and clearly define contentious terms like: attempt to rape, molestation, marital rape, eve teasing, rape within the house hold and so and so forth as the same are grey areas in the laws pertaining to sexual crimes/offences committed against women and a clear definition and understanding of the same will certainly go a long way in getting the victims seemingly elusive justice in all such cases.........
> following on from the same, do clearly come up with a comprehensive draft of the changes that you would like to see within the existing frame work of laws pertaining to women related matters; the death penalty and chemical castration may or may not have a deterrent or salutary effect on wannabe rapists but the surety and certainty of punishment certainly will so clamour for the setting up of fast track courts and the speedy disposal of all rape and other such cases pertaining before various courts for years together........
A focussed, concerted, comprehensive, cogent, united and time bound campaign is the only way forward and we can, we shall and we will ultimately triumph in this battle to make India the safest country for women on planet earth...........
