Trust the Congress party's dirty tricks department and it's resident mandarins a la Shashi Tharoor to come up with a highly emotive issue that can take the heat that has been building up on both the party and government to shed it's customary lethargy and act post haste on matters pertaining to the deliverance of punitive justice to the hapless 23 year old brave heart who lost her valiant battle for life on December 30 in a Singapore hospital after being brutally gang raped and brutalised in a Delhi charter carriage (private bus) by six thugs who have since been apprehended.........
Mr. Shashi Tharoor must have certainly felt that he was doing both his self as well as his beleaguered party a huge service by tweeting about the necessity of naming the seemingly draconian anti rape law that seems to be on the anvil as a mark of the nation's respect and reverence for the brave heart and also as an effort towards immortalising her name for posterity...........
While there is no denying the fact that there is indeed considerable merit in what Mr. Tharoor is advocating, the fact of the matter is that there is no constitutional provision in existence that permits the naming or titling of either an existing or proposed law in somebody'd memory or as a gesture of honour or gratitude to that eminent or brave soul........
The constitution will have to be amended by a two thirds majority if the pipe dream of Mr. Shashi Tharoor has indeed to see the light of the day and thereby set an unfortunate precedent for all and sundry to clamour for naming laws as a mark of respect to individuals whom they deem worthy of this rare honour........
Doctor Manmohan Singh's utterly spineless and direction less government would definitely be better served by either instituting a national award on the lines of the Geeta Chopra award as a mark of the nation's respect to the brave heart, this proposed national award could either be instituted in the 23 year old's own name or then in her family name and awarded to a woman who has indeed inspired and motivated all other Indian women to be equally fearless and courageous and could be given away in a glittering ceremony on her birthday year after year........
Better still accord the father and brother of Nirbhaya, Damini or Amanat, the thoroughly deserved honour of shooting the arrows that set fire to the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna and Meghnath on the occasion of Dussehra or Vijaya Dashmi at the capital's Ram Leela grounds and add a fourth effigy symbolising the nation's disdain for all rapists, paedophiles and all such other males who perpetrate untold crimes against women.........
Ms. Sonia Gandhi and her puppet Manmohan Singh have done little or nothing of note to be bestowed with this deserving honour and the same should certainly be bestowed to the male members of the brave hearts family as she has not only become a rallying point for all of us but more importantly awoken our consciences and made us question our motives and reasons for being on planet earth..........
Will the Manmohan Singh government bestow this rare honour on the above mentioned family, well if wishes were horses, Manmohan Singh would have certainly won the award for being the bravest and most valiant man existing on the planet more times than he can count by now............
