The powers that be within the supposedly hallowed precincts (if one can call it that) seem hell bent upon imperiling and endangering your precious lives no matter what.......
Just barely a week or so after nearly 130 or so hapless; unsuspecting and guileless railway commuters met their maker as a result of 14 bogies of the ill fated express train derailing some 60 odd kilometers away from Kanpur the scores of railway commuters travelling on the much vaunted Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express barely survived a similar ghastly and inhuman fate thanks to providence and the almighty........
According to alacritous and concerned villagers living in close proximity to the damaged railway tracks the afore mentioned train had just crossed the Western Hardayal Nagar area on the Barauni-Katihar Railway section in Bihar at around at around 3;30 am or so in the wee hours or so at a resoundingly high speed when a group of male villagers who were make a beeline for their favourite defecation spots noticed that the said railway track was broken or then fractured in more places than one........
Alarmed; distressed; concerned and dismayed; the caring and conscientious villagers rushed towards the nearest railway station braving the early morning chill and alerted the railway personnel on duty at the seemingly unearthly hour of 4:30 am as they did not want a repeat or then reprisal of the horrendous Kanpur incident in their immediate vicinity.......
Initially disbelieving and dismissive railway officials soon came to their collective senses and made a hurried and unceremonious beeline to the mentioned section where they found that the claims about the track on the down section being damaged and mutilated was indeed true and irrefutable........
Linemen and other track maintenance staff were then roused from their salubrious slumber and rushed post haste to the said spot to carry out the much desired and required repair and maintenance works as a result of which all the trains which followed in the immediate wake of the Rajdhani Express were ingloriously halted at the nearby Khagria station for some three odd hours while the fractured tracks were repaired to the satisfaction of the chief technical or then track maintenance officer.......
Attributing the anomaly to cyclical changes in weather patterns at this time of the year the senior most railway official in the area has issued orders to the effect that all trains passing on the down track for the next five or so days will only do so at speeds not exceeding 30 kmph or then until the worn out and age old track/s are completely replaced with a set of shining new tracks capable of bearing the load exerted on it by trains travelling at speeds in excess of 100 kmph........
One only wonders when if ever will they come to their senses and acquaint themselves with the inexorable fact that they cannot afford to play around with commuters precious and irreplaceable lives any longer.......
