Former cricketers allegedly involved in the eponymous and infamous match fixing scandal that made headlines at the beginning of the new millennium and other sources involved/associated with the imbroglio are supposedly spending sleepless nights dreading the impending release of the much awaited Emraan Hashmi starrer "Azhar" on May 13; 2016.......
According to sources closely associated with this Balaji Motion Pictures and Sony Entertainment Networks co-production over the last week or so they have been besieged rather overwhelmed by incessant queries by many folks even remotely associated with this dark and desolate chapter of Indian cricketing history trying to unravel how much dirt about them is being unravelled in this biographical flick that has taken the country by storm (if it's promos are any yardstick to go by)..........
If the Hindi film industry grapevine is to believed one particular CBI officer is supposedly keeping an eagle's eye over the proceedings of this Tony D'Souza helmed venture as he is of the considered view that former Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin concealed far more than he revealed during the course of the investigations that spanned a decade and more and also that he was let off a little to easily in his "considered" opinion by both the courts as well as the powers that be within the Indian Cricket Control Board.........
Continuing with his diatribe; this particular gentleman acidly and pithily discloses the fact that he will not hesitate to take the production house to court and bring down the entire force of the law on them if they as much dare to portray Azhar as wronged, maligned and much misunderstood character thereby anointing him with the halo of "martyrdom" instead of portraying him as the "grey" character who brought shame and misery on the supposedly hallowed name of Indian cricket through his villainish deeds and actions.......
Whatever may be the ultimate outcome of this eagerly anticipated flick at the box office there is no denying the underlying and all to pervasive fear about the film reopening the proverbial "Pandora's Box" and rekindling memories of an infamous episode of Indian cricketing history that most folks prefer sweeping under the carpet for good measure and reasons best known to them......
