You can always bet your last rupee on the fact that maverick film maker Anurag Kashyap and one of the nation's finest actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui would do everything than the mundane and stereotyped whenever they collaborate to create cinematic magic........
The same and a lot more besides happened during the filming of their latest cinematic masterpiece "Raman Raghav 2.0" a semi autobiographical representation of the psychotic and demonic mass murderer who created mayhem and spine chilling murder/s on the numerous lanes and bylanes that dotted India's commercial capital way back in the mid 1960's.........
This dark; sinister; spine chilling and blood curdling film that will be showcased at the iconic Cannes Directors' Fortnight Section come May 11; 2016 was one of the most taxing, trying, surreal and discomfiting ventures in which the dynamic duo have ever been involved if their repeated utterances pertaining to the same are any yardstick or parameter to go by.......
According to Nawazuddin he had to be admitted to a suburban hospital for a few days after a particularly trying 20 day schedule of the afore mentioned masterpiece as he was both mentally wrecked and physically devastated from his sterling efforts to get into the skin and psyche of one of Mumbai's most sinister and feared characters.......
Continuing with his merry tale Siddiqui alludes to the fact that his wife who rushed to his bedside was at her tether's end when she found her semi-conscious and world weary husband mouthing the film's dialogues that had become so deeply enmeshed in his sub-conscious even while recuperating from his rather harrowing and taxing ordeal in his deluxe hospital ward/room.......
Unduly alarmed and worried by her darling husband's plight Nawaz's better half launched a tirade against Kashyap when he ventured into the said hospital to enquire about his leading lights well being and sanity while simultaneously pleading with him to go easy on her husband and spare him the arduous and onerous responsibility of bringing alive and breathing life into Kashyap's favourite on screen character post the characters he had created in the cinematic masterpiece "Gangs Of Wasseypur".........
However order was soon restored on both the sets of the film and Siddiqui's personal life as he was discharged from the hospital after a three day furlough and even recovered his mental acumen and alacrity to the extent that he did not let his on screen character's persona overpower or dominate the real person that he was accustomed to being during the course of a forty odd year lifespan.........
ON Here's wishing Messrs Kashyap and Siddiqui many more such moments of cinematic brilliance and madness that not only leave us gaping in wonder and astonishment but also standing up and giving them standing ovations every single time they create the cinematic wizardry that unabashed eccentrics like them are more than capable of creating and recreating every single time.........
