With team director Ravishankar Jayadrith Shastri's (Ravi Shastri's) tenure coming to an end with team India's heart breaking exit from the ongoing T20 World Cup or then World Championship (as you prefer to nomenclature it) speculation is rife about who will succeed him as team India's next full time coach.........
Shedding further light on the imbroglio BCCI secretary the youthful and vibrant Anurag Thakur said that it was indeed true that Shastri's tenure as team director was indeed over for good as his and his fellow or co-coaches contracts were only valid until March 31; 2016.........
He further went on to reveal the fact that the powers that be within the BCCI based upon the sage and expert advice rendered by the high powered and suitably high powered committee (Messrs Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar; Saurav Chandidas Ganguly and Vangipurappu Venkata Sai Laxman) had decided to put a full stop to the prevalent practice of having a team director and the team would only have a full time coach (head coach) assisted by a team of other assistant coaches as well as other support staff members in the future.........
According to Mr. Thakur the Cricket Advisory Committee during the course of it's next meeting post April 3;2016 (the exact date of the same is yet to be finalised though the possibility of the same being held before the commencement of the Indian Premier League tamasha on April 9 is exceedingly high) will be short listing the most probable candidates suited to occupy this exalted though rather trying position and taking a final call on team India's next coach as they have been empowered to do the same keeping in view the best interests of team India.........
The suspense over the next incumbent has only gotten more exciting with Messrs Shane Warne; Michael Hussey; Michael Vaughan; Tom Moody and last but not the least former coach Gary Kirsten evincing a more than keen interest in donning the mantle of team India coach though ex team director Ravi Shastri's chances of taking over as team India's next full time coach with suitably curtailed powers cannot be entirely ruled out as he enjoys a more than congenial and cohesive rapport with the members of the present team and the same might just end up loading the dice in his favour..........
One would however not be unduly surprised if the three supposedly wise men empowered or then entrusted with the onerous responsibility of appointing team India's next full time coach for the next two years to begin with settle or rather plump for a foreigner to don the mantle or take up the cudgels as they are of the informed opinion that foreign or then overseas cricketers are just that bit more professional and ruthless while discharging the role of a coach in comparison to their Indian counterparts (with one Greg Chappell being the only noteworthy exception in this regard)........
Will Kohli and Dhoni's confidante and comrade in arms Ravi Shastri get a renewed lease of life or then will the Cricket Advisory Committee spring a complete surprise on us all by appointing a rather low profile but thoroughly deserving candidate????watch this space for further developments.........
