Sooraj Barjatya and Salman Khan's eagerly anticipated Diwali release "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" not only obliterated the box office collections of Shahrukh Khan starrer "Happy New Year" by the proverbial country mile but also ended up setting a new record for the opening day's box office collections........
According to the figures available on the web site of the nation's most trust worthy box office reckoner (Box Office India.com); the magnum opus reportedly collected a whopping Rs. 39.40 crore nett (Hindi version) while the dubbed Tamil and Telugu versions of the same film added a further Rs. 1.50 crore to it's kitty; thereby taking the opening day collections of the same to an astounding Rs. 40.90 crore.......
What however may come as a dampener is the mixed response that Brajatya's latest directorial venture has garnered from both the audiences as well as the carping critics and it will indeed be interesting and worth one's while to keep an eagle eye on the box office collections of the same in order to see whether the hype and hoopla persists considering the somewhat lukewarm response the film has evoked (audience and critic reviews)..........
