Remaining steadfast in the face of rapidly growing and increasingly violent protest against the Aamir Khan starrer "PK" censor board chairperson/chief Leela Samson has said that there is no chance of any scenes being deleted or chopped off from the film no matter what.......
Maintaining her stance; Leela Samson further added that recalling or summoning an already released film and subjecting it to further cuts and adjournments in the face of protests by fringe elements and fundamentalist groups would only serve to set the wrong precedent and open up a pandora's box that would never ever be closed or capped in the future........
The Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani co-produced and Rajkumar Hirani written and directed "PK" was released worldwide on December 19 and has since become the first past the much coveted 200 crore mark in the annals of the Hindi film industry but also succeeded in stirring up a hornet's nest and raising the heckles of these fringe elements who have since gone to town with their vociferous and increasingly violent protests against the film that supposedly hurts and insults "Hindu" sentiments.......
Summing up the situation succinctly and buttressing her point of view Ms. Samson said that "every film may end up insulting the so called sentiments of some religious dispensation/group or the other and we cannot keep removing or deleting scenes from already released films on this and any other pretexts as doing so would only serve to embolden such lumpen elements and violate a gross violation of the right to freedom of expression expressly guaranteed by the Constitution"..........
"Both the censor board as well as the appellate tribunal have viewed "PK" and found nothing objectionable in the film and hence we cannot recall or censor the film any further as the same has already been certified for public viewing and released to an unprecedented response worldwide"; Ms. Samson concluded...........
Putting in my two cents worth; let me say that I have seen "PK" and found that the "film of the year" has been unsparing and unstinting in it's principled stance against against all organised forms of religion and the ills or maladies of the same; "PK" does take an unequivocal stance against the so called godmen who have caused irreparable damage to the moral fibre of this glorious country with their immoral and dastardly criminal acts and tendencies and deserve to be condemned; ostracised and banished from our midst instead of venerated; respected and placed on thoroughly undeserving pedestals..........
So kindly cultivate/develop a sense of humour and irony and more importantly learn to laugh at oneself as "PK" is a work of art that needs to be appreciated and enjoyed instead of being vilified and demonised; come on folks grow up and get a life instead of indulging in amateurish acts that only serve to make you a laughing stock in the eyes of the rest of the world...........
