While the debate rages on about whether or not juveniles below the age of 18 should be tried as adults for heinous crimes committed by them; juveniles continue with their unabated crime spree while the debate pertaining to their sins rages on.......
In the latest capital crime (murder) involving juveniles; three juveniles ganged up and stabbed a 20 year old youth to death in the national capital's Jaitpur area on Sunday night.......
Shivam (the victim) and the three accused juveniles had a particularly heated and acrimonious quarrel between themselves earlier in the evening when the three accused were indulging in a game of gully cricket amongst themselves on an empty plot of land adjoining Shivam's modest shop........
Enraged and incensed by Shivam's dominating attitude and constant threats; the three accused returned to his shop later that night (Sunday night) and acosted him; during the melee/fracas that ensued one of the accused whipped out a rather wicked looking knife and stabbed Shivam on his abdominal area multiple times following which Shivam collapsed on the ground in a bleeding heap.......
Alerted and alarmed by the sounds emanating from the shop on the ground floor; Shivam's family member came down from their dwelling located on the first floor of the same building and rushed him to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries within a matter of four hours or so..........
A complaint was filed by Shivam's inconsolable family members at the Jaitpur police station in the wee hours of Monday morning following his untimely as well as premature demise and the three unrepentant juveniles who squarely blamed Shivam's uncontrolled fits of rage for the sordid fate that befell him were rounded up from their respective homes by the Jaitpur Police personnel later that morning........
The three accused juveniles were produced before a juvenile board on the very same Monday afternoon and confined to a correction home/facility thereafter.........
One only hopes that this latest incident/crime involving juveniles does not end up as a mere statistic and proves to be the harbinger of a system wherein juveniles are sentenced on the basis of the gruesomeness, heinousness, calculatedness and severity of the crime or crimes committed by them for any reason/s..........
