One has repeatedly heard about the dictum or rather proverb about falling out of the frying pan and into the fire and here is a real life situation that all but embodies the same dictum or proverb.........
A 27 year old woman was allegedly gang raped by four men in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior District on the intervening night of June 30/July 1, 2014 and duly proceeded to inform her husband about the sordid fate that had befallen her little knowing the ultimate consequences of her candour and candidness.........
Lo and behold! her lawfully wedded husband held out the assurance about accompanying her to the neighbouring police station; but then proceeded to betray her confidence and instead led her to the infamous state run mental asylum instead..........
After being incarcerated in the hell hole for a whole calendar month much against her free will; the gang rape victim somehow managed to escape the confines of the same with utmost difficulty and proceeded to file a police complaint against her sexual tormentors on the night of August 1,2014..........
In her complaint the victim alleged that the heinous incident occurred in the city's Kumharpura area when she had gone there to meet her parents; according to the victim's complaint, one Inder Jatav and three other ,male residents of the same area accosted her when she was returning to her parents house after doing some shopping forcefully led/carried her to a deserted and secluded spot some distance away and then took turns in raping her in both crevices more than once each..........
She somehow managed to wend her way home to the humble abode in the city's Jivajinagar area some three to four hours after the gang rape and duly proceeded to inform her initially disbelieving and increasingly sardonic husband about the same.........
To her utter disbelief, shock and consternation, her husband led her to the afore mentioned mental asylum instead of the promised police station stuffed a handful of notes into a more than willing male orderly's pocket and she found herself occupying a bed in the hell hole for the next thirty days or so before making good her escape from the prison in which her callous, demonic and uncaring husband had proceeded to incarcerate rather than helping her overcome the ordeal as he was socially and legally ordained too..........
Talk about small mercies; the local police in a deviation from the written script in a significant majority of such cases, proceeded to file a case against the four accused and also proceeded to launch a massive manhunt in order to nab the accused who are still at large...........
As for the sorry apology for the husband; the victim does not want to go back and continue her sham of a marriage with him but is increasingly fearful of the prospect of her hapless parent's giving into the relentless pressure being exerted on them to pardon her errant husband and reunite the two in the larger interests of the victim and a so called "civilised" society that prefers to look the other way and condone such incidents of diabolic behaviour as they are trivial and inconsequential in it's "esteemed and informed" opinion.........
