Things certainly seem to be going from bad to worse for India women what with their estranged husbands gang raping them along with their accomplices in an effort to settle scores and conclusively prove who calls the shots.........
In an incident bordering on the bizarre a thirty year old tribal woman was allegedly gang raped by her husband and at least five other male accomplices; while her son was forced to watch her ordeal as a mute spectator in Madhya Pradesh's Bilal Khedi Village (Khandwa district).........
This incident cam to light late on Friday evening when the victim summoned up the courage to approach the local police personnel and narrate her tale of woe and exploitation in front of them........
In her complaint against her husband and a minimum of five other males, the victim alleged that she was initially led to the fields adjoining the village and rasped by all six men in turn while her ten year old son was made to watch the gory spectacle...........
She was then dragged back to the village and forcibly made to drink the urine of her tormentors when she begged them for mercy and water and last but not the least; she was stripped off her vestments and paraded naked through the village as a warning to all the other women who were contemplating standing up to their domineering husbands.........
According to the victim, she and her husband one Kailash Bheel, 35 were living separately from the last seven months or so as a property dispute had arisen between them and the same was the cause for the beatings inflicted by her by her estranged husband on a daily basis while the two of them were still living together........
She further went on to allege that she was summoned to the village by her estranged husband late on Tuesday night in order to dispose of all pending disputes between them once and for all and only went there because she trusted him..........
On reaching the said farm, she was surrounded by her husband and at least five other men from all sides, subdued, trussed up and repeatedly raped by her husband and his more than willing partners in the crime while her ten year old son was forced to watch her ordeal with unbelieving and sorrowful eyes..........
Backing up or corroborating his mother's version of events, the son said that his father used to return home late at night in a sozzled or inebriated condition and use the vilest of words and phrases to describe his estranged wife's character or rather lack of the same.........
The woman is currently undergoing treatment at a local government hospital in Khandwa district for the physical injuries and mental trauma inflicted by her by her tormentors and attackers; while all six of her torturers who have since been conclusively identified thanks to the graphic descriptions provided by the victim continue to remain at large........
One only wonders when if ever will this rape pandemic that has assumed monstrous proportions, end, state respective state governments simply refuse to confront and accept the ugly spectre staring them in the face; while highly politicised and stereotypical male dominated police forces simply refuse to register cases and only investigate those cases that their political bosses want them too.........
