Unbridled or then uncontrolled fits of rage do strange things to all manner of people, these fits of rage often send them over the bend and even lead to their killing fellow human beings when such fits of rage exercise their inextricable hold over them........
Monday morning dawned like any other in a Mumbai government run hospital, but little did the staff and inmates know that this was just the calm before a raging storm as a 42 year old HIV patient set about attacking a 65 year old cancer patient and two others with a saline stand while a fit of rage seized him.........
Lilabihari Thakur the 65 year old cancer patient who bore the brunt of the murderous rage that afflicted the 42 year old HIV patient later succumbed to the hideous head and facial injuries inflicted on him while the two other patients who also suffered grievous injuries during this unsavoury episode are currently battling for their lives in the ICU of the very same hospital........
According to the latest update received from the concerned hospital, the 42 year old accused has since been shifted to the government run JJ hospital for intensive and specialised psychiatric treatment.........
Hospital authorities are at a loss for words and are finding it increasingly difficult to ascribe reasons for the accused's inexplicable behaviour as the accused was undergoing treatment for brain tuberculosis and did not display any signs whatsoever of being afflicted or affected by psychiatric problems...........
This murderous assault took place in the general ward which is located on the third floor of the hospital premises at around 6:30 am or so on the fateful Monday morning and hospital authorities are still trying to come to terms with the seemingly insane behaviour of the HIV patient who hails from the city's Agripada area and was admitted to the hospital on May 8, 2014 for treatment.........
One of the doctors treating the accused did however disclose the fact that he was suffering from acute depression as a result of the medical problems afflicting him and this depression could have triggered of this so called "fit of rage"..........
According to yet another doctor his current ailment i.e. brain tuberculosis does cause or lead to some amount of neurological imbalance and this was the second time that he was being treated for the same condition within the hospital, though it would be difficult to attribute his actions to a seemingly minor neurological imbalance.........
The accused's wife however narrates a tale that is diametrically opposite to the one being narrated by the hospital authorities, according to the long suffering lady, her husband has a long standing psychiatric history and was even treated for psychiatric problems at the Masina Hospital on many previous occasions, but even she is utterly flummoxed by this instance of murderous rage on the part of her husband.........
In the above case, what really matters is the fact that how did the battery of doctors treating the patient miss out on the records pertaining to his psychiatric ailments and taking due cognisance of the same........
A little more due diligence on the part of the doctors and a more critical perusal of the patient's medical history could have not only saved one precious/invaluable human life and hence the concerned authorities should book the doctors for aiding and abetting murder without any further ado as their callous actions tantamount to the same........
