While both the so called national parties indulge in mutual mud slinging, name calling and listing the sins of omission and commission of the other, it is only the Aam Aadmi party that seems to be interested in taking up issues close to the heart of 125 crore Indians and making an effort to resolve the same.........
Call it gimmickry, wizardry, loony tunes or then any other name you can conjure up, but the fact of the matter is that the AAP and only the AAP is taking up people related issues though the methodology involved might seem somewhat eccentric and outlandish.......
Many an avowed follower of the AAP might well remember the fact that erstwhile cabinet minister Somnath Bharti had received both bouquets as well as brickbats in equal measure when her helmed the now controversial raid on an alleged prostitution racket in a South Delhi locality.......
This time around, it is the turn of the Aam Aadmi Party's Rohini MLA Rajesh Garg who has been grabbing eyeballs, headlines and the media spotlight ever since he started his dharna outside a Delhi Government education office since early Monday morning.......
Local residents were in for a rude though welcome awakening when they woke up to the spectacular or then bizarre sight of (depending on which view point you look at it from) Mr. Garg and his dedicated band of followers barging into the compound of the above mentioned Delhi Government Education Office.........
What baffled locals even more was the van laden with chairs, bedsheets, dhurries, tentage, utensils and other food stuffs that was accompanying Mr. Garg and his merry bunch of acolytes; as the article laden van was duly offloaded and thus began the siege of the said government office.......
According to Mr. Garg, he wanted the lethargic and indifferent education department to wake up from it's comatose slumber and initiate stringent action those educational institutions (schools) that have failed to comply with the rules pertaining to the "help and aid" that has to be rendered to students belonging to the economically weaker or impoverished sections of society as well as those school managements that demand hefty donations from the harrowed parents of these economically backward children........
The MLA and his supporters have been staging this round the clock dharna in the premises of the education officer's office in Pitampura in support of their long standing demands and the goods laden van was there only to ensure that Mr. Garg and his supporters did not have to agitate on empty stomachs as well as enjoy a good night's sleep......
According to Mr. Garg, he had written numerous letters as well as corollaries to the director of education regarding the existing anomalies as well as shortcomings in the prevalent education system, but all these missives went unheeded........
He also said that he had taken up the very same issue with the regional officer only to be brushed off with the sardonic reply that corruption was a way of life within the educational system and nothing could be done to stem the rot........
"Left with no other alternative, I had to take recourse to this method of both making myself heard as well as seen", Garg signs off......
